Yeah it just requires drilling out all the welds and getting new bed sides welded on. Unless you get glass then you bolt that on

Oh they’re removable not. At all.

It’s all spot welded and pinch welded. It’s going to be very very difficult to remove the pinchwelds, re-weld the bedsides, and use do some strategic body work to make it look factory again.

    They’re bolt-on I believe on your 2016.

You'd need about 50 bolts to put one bedside back. There are a million spot welds holding each bedside to the bed.

Plus it would look pretty fugly to have that many bolts sticking out.

There’s about three cracks I can see. Some body filler will fix the little cracks and chips otherwise.

For these I’m planning on doing the layers of the fiberglass cloth and the resin.

    Yo' Tyler.

Don't waste your time with the spot weld drill tool. Use a regular drill. It works better. You will be plug welding with the MIG welder anyways.

Huh, really? I always thought it would be better since you wouldn't have to run a pilot hole. I saw that it keeps the bottom point of attachment intact and more surface area to weld to.

You only need to drill thru the top sheet metal. Use a bit slightly bigger than the spot weld. Put a chisel between the 2 pieces of sheet metal to put some pressure on separating the 2. You will get very good at figuring out how much drilling is needed.

Center punch the spot weld first of course to keep the drill from wondering.

I never thought the spot weld cutter tools worked all that great and there is really no way to sharpen them when the dull.

You only want to drill thru the top layer of SM.

Great advice, I'll give it a go tomorrow. I already have the spot weld bits coming in the mail so I'll see which one I like better.

    Have you replaced bedsides before?

I think I'll do the plug welding instead, no way I'll be ever to get the Tonneau to sit flush with bolt heads sticking out.
