So I’m hoping someone traveled down this road before me so I know what to do. I noticed this noise on the right side about 3 days ago. It sounds like keys or a chain hitting the ground whenever I go over a bump or a rough patch of road. Only 2,900 miles so of course kinda early to be experiencing little extra noises and if dealer test drives it during the day it’s probably to much daytime noise to be able to hear it. It’s pretty clear halfway through the video

Not keys. But after a little digging I found similar thoughts. Think you guys are on to something. Wow. That simple would be embarrassing but great. Will update tonight. Headed for work before the sun rises

Your correct it’s the spare tire lowering chain. I recently noticed it when I install I new spare tire and Rim set. Seems that the rims made the chain sound louder due to material it’s made from. I considering spraying my chain with spray on truck bed sealer to died the sound, only fear is that it would cause problems with lower my spare tire.

Do you have a hitch in the receiver? That can make some weird noises on bumps if you leave it in.

I flipped my spare and the chain rests inside the wheel (had it this way 13 years on my 2nd gen). Don't hear anything. It's flipped so I can add air without dropping the spare, otherwise, the only time I'll actually need it, it'll be flat.

Makes sense I’ll have to rig something when I get HoMe tonight but makes sense. And as far as the “right side” HA.. it’s because is the USA we drive on the right side of the road so any echo or reverb I heard would come from the houses on my right or closest side lol

Well i might’ve spoke too soon. I notice this “chain” sound again this morning. And I put pipe insulation around the spare tire chain and tire wired it up a bit D4E63F11-0EA4-4508-9284-0DD4562E7B18.jpg
But I heard it early this morning on the way to work. It only audible early morning or late night in the park because no one is driving around but me. It’s kinda weird. The spare tire chain is painted and has a heavier sound this is more like a “lighter” chain sound. Or is it the chain above the spare tire. Ugh ?
If it is cool kinda. That means I need to drop the spare and figure something out. If it’s not then I’m gonna go crazy till I find that lil gremlin making that noise
