Changed my engine oil and rear diff oil today waiting for the weekend to do the front diff and transfer case. Oh and I installed the @mesojdm Gasshole. Terrible picture but I was in a rush before we left for a BBQ.

What's your opinion on the treadwrights? Worth the savings?

I always double check before I even roll my window down. I'd be so on edge without doors!

Love it, My Tacoma spent most of its life in MN. however it is now in SoCal (desert) when I kept it in MN my engine bay always looked like yours, now I almost get sick whenever I have to raise the hood and see my dirty engine. Question? do you know if I can take a water hose to the engine? I thought I read somewhere where people would spray the engine compartment with simple green or something similar and then hose it off; Again your engine bay looks great!!

I use simple green, one of those plastic spray bottles you can pump with air to pressurize, pipe cleaner-style brushes from harbor freight, and microfiber rags to get rid of dirt and grime. Finish most but not all plastic with meguiars trim restore.

Watch the vid if you’re concerned about harming anything electrical or getting water where you don’t want it.

I don’t have access to a hose, So I use pressurized air to dry and blow off water/residue after spraying and scrubbing.

so far, yes worth the savings. another Alabama member has 42k on a set of 285 guard dogs and they still have like 10k left in them no doubt. I haven't tested mine off road yet, but he's put his through the ringer (moab and all)

for what its worth...if you are not rinising off ....there are a number of good articles on line about this subject...just thought I wud bring it to everyone's attention....NOTE it is for aircraft aluminum...have no clue about the difference in an engine block material ...but I wont use it in the engine bay...

    From DOD

Simple Green and other cleaners that are not listed in the Technical Manuals are taboo for a very good reason - they hurt the metal used to build the machine.

It has been brought to the attention of the U.S. Army Aviation Missile Command (AMCOM) Depot Maintenance Engineering Team that numerous units are using the commercial product SIMPLE GREEN as an aircraft wash. STOP! This product has been through Department of Defense (DOD) testing and was determined to be highly corrosive on aircraft aluminum and also a catalyst for Hydrogen Embrittlement in high strength aircraft alloys.

That’s a shame. I have both the caliraised side shooters and amber pods never any condensation and the amber light is bright as hell and equal. Powder coating on both sets is still perfect and the pods are about a year and a half old. I just got lucky I guess
