Trick I learned growning up back east, if your vehicle doesn’t pass the smog test, run it down to 1/4 tank of fuel and then add a bottle of rubbing alcohol to the tank. It will pass with flying colors.

Once passed immediately fill up your tank with fuel.

Ours still come in and pile in the bed in the morning, starting around 6. It can be annoying some days, but we'll miss it when they stop.

Yup, the 2 year old walked into the room at 4:30a, while the infant was in the bassinet grunting and making noises waking up to feed. So I got the 2 year old to lay down next to me and at least semi chill.

Good point, they don’t sniff test OBDII vehicles just plug in and self test looking for codes. Which can easily be wiped out right before you go into the lanes.

Their scanners will show that you wiped the OBDII or cleared it within 24hrs you'll fail.

Depending on the year the sensors get a lot more complex. For instance on a 96 when they just started using OBD you could get away with a rear O2 simulator, but more modern cars will spot your ruse. Other things like evap canisters could be faked out with just a resistor, but again now the system will cross-check itself and figure it out.
