Don't dilute it - use it full strength.
This is the Pink Fluid - Toyota also has a Red Fluid.

I hadn't seen it before so I figured I'd snap some photos to share

 

Does the 2nd gen use the pink and what's the difference between the pink and red?

 

My Second Gen is a 2008 4.0L and uses the Pink fluid. I know Toyota makes a Red colored coolant but I don't know what the difference is or what vehicles use it.

 

2nd Gen uses pink. At least for the 4.0L's they do.

 

So what happens after -34 because its colder than that in canada eh.

 

how often are you suppose to change it? I have seen 100,000. Are you planing to flush or simply change?

 

According to the US booklet, 10 years / 100,000 mi.

According to the Canadian booklet, initially at the equivalent of 8 years / 80,000 mi, then every 4 years / 40,000 mi.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

 

It Freezes eh. You get to use a block heater.

Simple drain and refill. My truck has 30K on it. I don't expect to see anything out of the ordinary in the catch basin.

It does make you wonder. I'm just going to stick to a maintenance routine that has served me well with multiple Jeeps. If it's good for a Jeep it should be a breeze for my Toyota.

 

You're wasting your money. It will do 100K no problem.

 

It took me 3 years to get to 30K. No way am I leaving the same coolant in my truck for 10 years.

I've wasted money on worse things.

 

Buy the undiluted coolant and do a 70/30 mix with water. That will lower the freezing point to -90F/-68C.
I hope you are using a good 0W20 or 0W30 oil at those temps.

It's the next 100K you should be worried about. Toyota has an incentive to skimp on maintenance to 1) look good in the JDPower studies and 2) reduce costs on its free maintenance program. The harmful effects won't appear until after the powertrain warranty expires.

The recurring 4 years / 40,000 mi interval in the Canadian booklet is a good guideline.

 

My owners manual says: "Toyota super long life coolant." I can not find a P/N for the red version...only the 50/50, pink. Anyone got a P/N for me?

why u need a P/N number? just ask for the Toyota long life concentrated coolant

 

OK, here is what Olathe Toyota tells me.

Pink super long life (for, say, a '07 Taco) is not available as a non-diluted product. Red long life is available (as spec'ed for my '03 Tundra). They say, the Toyota line is, red plus distilled water is not recommended in motors which spec pink super long life.

I'd still like the p/n for super long life, non-diluted...but, it might not exist.
