get a machine shop to mod your filter base to allow this filter
punch hole in hood for filter to stick out of and enjoy the extra cooling of your oil and knowing you have almost 3 extra quarts in the system

But we got our "3k change interval cuz that's how pappy always did it on his Farmall" posts in here from the "we love to waste perfectly good oil and money" flat earther society crowd, so I think we can safely say this is now another of 6 million identical oil threads on the site.

Yes. You haven't done this yet? I punched a hole right next to my non-functional hood scoop.

    Yeah.
Everyone knows that oil bottles and oil filters are color-coded to go together, although silver and white can be mixed. If you use SuperTech, you should use the blue STP filters. Castrol synthetic, black OEM filter is a good choice (this is what I use).

My pappy owns a John deere not a Farmall, and everyone knows the earth is flat, so why even bring that up? NASA guards the wall that keeps people from falling off the edge

Look up Fumoto valves. They are a pretty cool replacement for your OEM drain plug.

I just looked them up. Yeah, pretty cool. But it's just a tool for easy accessibility right? Are there any down sides to using these. Are they worth it?

It’s just a convenient valve when you change the oil.

I was 10000000% Mobil1 Synthetic on this truck since 2006 when I bought it brand new! Few months ago I read some test results, of course its common knowledge Amsoil testrd the best, Mobil1 did ok, Penzoil Platinum scored close to Amsoil! Switched the next day. Noticable difference in engine noise and smoothness. Go with Penz Platinum 5/W30 and OEM filter

That is either the funniest or most uninformed post I think I have ever read. Am I supposed to be ROTFL or scratching my head? There is TONS , literally TONS of test results and Blackstone results out there. saying they are all the same and Wal-Mart oil is as good as Mobil1 or Amsoil or Penz Plat is just absurd.

Dang, I'd be changing oil in something almost every other weekend. My truck gets 25K/yr, my wife's car gets 35K/yr, and the spare car gets 10K/yr. That would be 23 oil changes a year.

That 3K interval is from the 60s/70s motors and oil. We've come a long way since then. Join the modern world and don't look back.

Like all vehicles, every 3000 miles. Cost $25-$30 for oil, OEM filters are $5, takes a minute to get on the crawler and place the catch pan under the oil pan, a minute to unscrew the oil drain plug, then 3 minutes to lift the hood and remove old filter and install new one, 15-20 minutes to sit on the porch and drink a beer while all the oil drains, 1 minute to put drain plug in, few minutes to refill oil.
    ,

So, max, $35 and 30 mins of your time (most of which you were drinking a beer) is well worth making sure your truck is 100%! :). Also, the more often you change it, the more often you can examine it for debris and/or send to Blackstone for testing. Lets say you change it every 5000 miles, how much will it really save you per year?

    Now you have me thinking.....
And sure, this is from a website that sells Amsoil... but its an interesting read.
