Well let's see em. I've pretty much destroyed my pro comp steelies on my last trip. I've wanted a light rim for a while now but couldn't justify it. I've tried to bent back the steelies but they won't balance and it's making me not want to drive my truck. That being said I intend to beat the shit out these wheels. I'm just looking for reassurance theyll take it

    Thanks

I don't baby mine, they hold up to abuse. I used to use nail polish to cover the scratches but gave up pretty quickly. This is from a trip to Moab in May.

I would think if you did that much damage to a steel rim, alloy is not the way you want to go. That's nothing against SCS, I have the Ray10 and love them, but I don't think they'd stand up to the abuse that a steel rim would.

My steel wheels no longer hold air. I came out this morning and 3 of 4 were flat. I've had the tires checked it's not the tires. I've tried to bend them back but they just aren't having it. Trying to weld rock rings on them it will just add more weight and my 2.7is pretty taxed as it is. I'm about to pull the trigger on some f5s but I go out and bang away. Just trying to reassure myself. I haven't been able to find any examples of people breaking them either

    Examples
    FB_IMG_1529349719178_edit_1530766920962_1f52c7aa8a00bceb95c76218bac43624b61015aa.jpg

I've found these pro comps to be extremely soft. They've been bending more and more with every outing they also will no longer balance

I just made the switch, I've been running pro comp steelies for a few years now. They have seen some abuse and never worried about it much as they are so cheap. My problem has been trying to keep the rust off. I've sprayed them several times now. I even put caulk in the lip to keep salt ect from lay ingredients in there.

I am patiently waiting g for the ray 10s to ship, I was lucky enough to get a set this last time and I am super excited to see how much lighter they will feel. There's a huge weight difference!!

Lol being in Canada I don't worry about rust so much it happens. I know there's going to be a massive weight difference. Just don't want to be cracking rims. But like I said I haven't been able to find any examples

I do not wheel as hard as I used to. A child, mortgage, life can change that. But I can assure that I will be taken it easier until that first scratch lol

The F5s are built for that, simple and you don't feel bad about abusing them. I had a set of the gold Ray10s in my garage for awhile that I couldn't bring myself to install because they would get thrashed.

I actually wanted the gold ray 10s but I'd have a better chance of banging Scarlett Johansson than getting a set

Honestly, if you wheel hard enough to bend steelies then it is only a matter of time before you crack any alloy wheel. You need to decide on what your rig is, if you want a point and shoot ifs wheeler then steelies with stiffeners.
I have seen all other alloy brands break on the trail, I have never seen a solid axle rig run SCS so I havent seen them fail. I have seen big $ alloy beadlocks spider crack and slowly leak air, and if they had finally let go at 80mph a bunch of people would have been hurt, at least steel wheels give you a warning that they are fawked, ie vibrations.

This is also my issue. I've destroyed the procomps and my steering rack lol but that's another post for another day. 1 I cannot buy the series 97 again because they changed the design and they no longer fit in 16" 2. I wouldn't buy them again because imo cheap steel was used but at 100$ a rim you get what you pay for. My truck is an awkward inbetween. I love the technical crawling and awesome trails but I also love traveling in my truck. It's not a daily but I use it alot. I mean I could go down to 4wp and try every steel wheel they have in stock to see if one will fit in 16" cause my buddy works there.

I want cake and to eat it lol
