Hard to tell without me putting my peepers on it
But is it ps fluid or engine oil?.
The end seals usually go and it fills up the tie rod boots and then it weeps out.

 

how does it attach? it seems like some of them are on pretty short brackets

 

And earlier I did my good deed for the day. I went to do a drive by through the block I have clients on and decided to take a drive to check out some of the new construction going on. Just as I was about to leave the area I seen one of the construction workers, out by himself, had his old Ford Ranger buried to the rear axle in the sand. So I backed the Jeep in and hooked him up with a tow strap and freed him up. He was a good 100 yards off the pavement, no water, nobody around and just trying to put in a day's work.

I understand that. It is PS. I didn't see it leak so I had him turn to full lock and it poured. This is the top shot and it is dry compared to what had just came out the bottom.

 

It came off my ‘97 . I cut the base off and welded 3” angle to fit with a little extra sticking out and split some pipe in half for tie downs

 

Naw...just hookin' a brother up. Getting stuck around these parts is pretty common. Unfortunately for him the rest of the crews appeared to take the rest of the week off and nobody was there to help. I probably pull half dozen people out a year at work. But he was grateful.

Hey I may have the oldest 2nd gen here? If mine should give out due to age more so than miles should a genuine part be the best route or aftermarket? Or is the rack outsourced already?

I really did mean that sincerely. I just watched that video where that lady fell out of the SUV and was just laying in the road. Everybody just kept on going! It seems to happen way too often.
