Ahh, yeah my old one had buckles on it but the new one just came with bare straps. I had to remove the buckle half from the tent side and the new straps just go into the slider. I wonder if maybe the buckle style ones were a bad batch? Mine is also grey with the blue fly.

If it is then I shouldn't get much resistance about wear and tear being a factor. :fingerscrossed:

Got some friends joining us last weekend for some quality time camping. We found a great spot!

    Good news everyone!

I emailed Tepui with pics and proof of purchase and they are sending me a new rain fly free of charge! Thanks for the tip that they were willing to just replace the fly itself. This is the best of all possible outcomes I could think of. Camping season is saved!

I honestly almost went with CVT but when REI had the sale it helped my convince the Mrs. jump on the Tepui. Not regretting it!

Are you sending the original back?

I noticed the same on mine last weekend, bought in April but have only used twice. Same color (Haze grey/blue fly) and buckle style fly.

That's a great question. Their response only mentions sending me a new one. I assume that to mean I don't need to send the other back but I won't know for sure until it arrives. They may include a return label or something.

Gotcha, thanks! I would be interested when you find out. I have plans to camp this weekend, so will get Tepui emailed next week and see what they can about my fly.

I'll run the one that's on it for the rest of the year before switching if I can. Thin spots doesn't mean it's leaking. I just didn't want to start out with failure on the horizon. I can do that to my own gear all by myself. :anonymous:

Have a 2015 Taco with a Snugtop XTR. Want to get a flush top rack, back to front. So the challenge is the 2" tubes rise about 3" from flush/ I really like the idea of the Xterra crossbars but see the plastic bracket as a weak link. Plus side is it appears the Xterra brackets appear to rest flush on the rubber rails on the shell distributing the weight. I think my solution will be the Xterra crossbars and the conduit type brackets for my Rhino Rack Expedition then I"ll have to figure what type of spacer to put on the front cab rack without sacrificing the load capacity. Anybody do this too? Tacoma 4 life baby!

This will definitely be much better than Xterra bars which seem to be just for aesthetics. I want something to hold some poundage and found these. May have to also cut down to fit the 38"inches between but offer real support. acc-bar-2-510x600.jpg

Update: It appears most Xterra drop in baskets are a fair fit for the Sungtop XTR

    https://www.wildernessracks.com/ind...s/adventure-rack-2005-2015-nissan-xterra.html

A little small for what I had in mind..."holds up to 200 lbs." I was hoping for at least twice that. But hey, it's a solution

does this offer still apply? I'm also looking for a black cover after my grey one started to separate in the corner and I would love the opportunity to go black and match the colors on my truck

Are there any issues with just running 2 bed bars rather than 3?
