TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Haha.. I just thought it might make the boost come on quicker and make it more consistent, so figured it was worth a shot.. sounds like it might be more trouble than it's worth

 

I already swapped to stubby gas lenses. I had been eyeballing the CK hoses, but was unsure if I was keeping this welder or going to a bigger Everlast with a cooler. Then again it never hurts to have an air cooled torch as a spare.

 

Gas lenses are a must for stainless. The CK hose is a most worthy investment.
I have only really welded stainless so far so that's what I am becoming most proficient on.

 

I took restrictor jet out a while back and had it in my cup holder. I forgot it was there and I think the car wash guy sucked it up with the vacuum.

Wouldn’t mind putting it back in if I can get one from Magnuson. Could use a welding tip, but I’m not sure what size the hole is supposed to be.

 

I assume you are back purging the stainless pipe?

 

Have someone stab the throttle while you watch the bypass actuator and see how fast it moves. If you want it to slam open and shut the remove the restrictor.

 

Of course! Either back purge or Solar Flux.

 

And definitely practice lefty and righty. As a natural right hander I was quite surprised to find that holding the torch in my left hand feels more natural.

 

Interesting. I have not tried that one.

 

I only had mine off for a week or so then it went back on for good.

 

I get 7-9 lbs depending on the season at 5500/6000ft. 2.5 and NST probably close to a 2.3. Yeah my blower is spinning strong

 

My experience with Mig and stick was sometimes you have to weld offhand. So I might as well be able to TIG with both also.

 

I have never arc or mig welded. I have done a fair amount of oxy acetylene back in the day though.

 

Took mine out. Bled a little. Figure there would be another blood sacrifice putting it back in.

 

taught me almost everything initially. his videos, a ton of practice and my type A anal retentiveness haha got me where I am today with welding

 

If you still have yours, can you measure the size of the hole?

 

It's about halfway up the taper on a tack.

 

Anyone recall if URD made the 2.7 pulley in aluminum vs just the steel stealth? I swear they used to offer all the sizes in aluminum but the only one on their website now is the 2.825.
