Can we improve throttle response like this?

So my Gf has a WK Jeep and I joined a Jeep forum. They have this "mod" that they do that improves or decreases throttle response.

What you do is:

1. Find an unused section of road with a good spot to pull-off/turn-around.
2. Pull off of the road and shut your car off.
3. Turn your key to the "On" position (but don't start the car), and wait for the 'idiot' lights to go out.
4. Press down on the accelerator, and let it back up.
5. Turn your car off.
6. Re-start your car and cruise up and down the road testing your throttle responsiveness.

Depending on how fast/slow you do the 4th step, your throttle will either become more or less sensitive/responsive.
Repeat steps #1 through #5 as needed until you're satisfied that your throttle response is as good as it's going to get.



Is this something we can do on our trucks? I have a manual 4 banger and stupidly tried it and it does nothing for my truck but maybe for an auto trans it might have a better effect?

 

I would sincerely hope we can't alter pedal sensitivity by mashing the thing with the electrical systems fired up. If what you say is true, I'm kind of concerned, though not terribly surprised you can do so in a ChryCo.

 

It was pretty amazing that the procedure "works" (butt dyno and feeling)...though if you go drive slowly after doing it it goes back to a slow throttle response but then can be altered again

its amazing how much drivetrain loss the jeeps have. my gf and myself have gone to a track and been supervised and completely legal and done a quick 0-60. her 3.7L awd fell very short of my 2.7L with 265/75/16's and 4.10 gears.

 

The 3.7 is a fucking piece. The 4.0L that dodge puts into their Nitro R/T and SXT is far superiour. Something like 260 HP and Torque.

That and the Jeep is probably heavier.


Oh, and new jeeps suck balls.

Question though, is the response more or less sensitive if you do the pedal fast or slow?

New ChryCo products (last 5 years or so especially) have some of the worst designs in automobile history, all around.

I have a co-worker with a 2007 Nitro that she takes EXCELLENT care of...proper maintenance and everything...the interior of the thing is starting to fall apart already. There are interior trim pieces coming loose, busted switches...it's sad. Hopefully the vital mechanical bits will hold together longer, but who knows.

 

Hmm, have to see. I have a coworker with a 2010 or 2009 (I can't remember). Strong engine, interior seems solid. Interesting to keep an eye on it. She also has the SXT though if that makes a difference.
