There's probably a ton of different ways you could secure it. Since the grill is slotted you could use a long C shape hook on the bottom and some kind of clip on the top. I'm not a big fan of plastic, but it could work and make it removable. Biggest problem is getting custom clips.

You could also use some L shaped brackets with a hole for a nut on the inside. You'd put a rubber washer, metal washer, spring, metal washer, and then a nut and bolt through the bracket behind it to hold it. Biggest problem here is getting the right size spring to go around the bracket as well as strong enough to hold strength without rusting.

Finally have a good flat finish on these 2018 plastic sensor windows. Here's a gloss vs flat comparison. Flat black windows will ship with flat black mesh orders, and gloss windows with gloss black orders.

    (300) 2018 sensor brackets all cut & bent. Just dropped them off for powder coat an hour ago. Still hoping to hit that "Late June" target ship date on these.

Soon we'll be offering just the slotted Perf SS style mesh for the 3rd gen. That means that when we're out of the Small Perf (1/4" circle hole mesh) they probably won't be restocked again. There's nothing wrong with the Small Perf mesh, we're just simply making space for the 2018's and needed to consolidate. Get em while you can if you've been thinking of getting this style.

Flat Black components for the 2018's are finally in and we're going to start shipping on Monday.

I know we're a little late in getting these developed and manufactured. As a result, many owners have purchased fake TRD Pro grills because options have been limited. In an effort to help owners change over to our grills that are developed, manufactured, powder coated, and assembled in the USA, we're offering the best promo we've come up with.

    Faux Pro Buyback Offer:
If you purchased a fake TRD Pro grill from eBay, CaliraisedLED, or anyone else, we're willing to give full fair market value (these are currently trending for $90 on eBay) towards a trade-in for any of our 2016-18 Tacoma mesh & bezel configurations.

Push, Pull, Ship, or Drag in your fake TRD Pro grill in for either a $90 coupon towards a future purchase of our 2016-18 Tacoma mesh & bezel configurations, or ship back your fake TRD Pro grill after purchase of our 2016-18 Tacoma mesh & bezel configurations for a $90 refund.

    Broken Mounting Tabs? NO PROBLEM!
Crack in the Mesh? NO PROBLEM!
Put 100,000+ miles on it? NO PROBLEM!

    Faux Pro Buyback Restrictions:
    - Cannot be combined with any other offer or discount we have available. If a discount was used on the initial purchase of our grill, then we'll still take the fake TRD pro grill back but will deduct the discount amount from the fake Pro refund. If the discount amount exceeds the current market value then no coupon or discount will be given.
    - Only valid for a mesh & bezel configuration or mesh & bezel + lettering / emblem. Not valid for a mesh only (with no bezel) configuration.
    - Coupon or Refund is only given once we receive the fake TRD Pro grill. Sorry, but we're not going to give a $90 coupon with the promise of it being sent later.
    - Fair market value is based on the current cheapest price we can find for the fake TRD Pro grills. Regardless of what you originally paid for it (whether it be $80 or $280), we're offering what it's worth today.
    - Limited Time offer, we can cancel the promotion at anytime.
    - Limit of 1 fake TRD Pro grill return per order.
    - Only valid for purchases directly on our website on or after June 30th, 2018. This is NOT retroactive for purchases before this date, and not valid for any purchases on any website other than customcargrills.com.
    - You are responsible for shipping the fake TRD Pro grill to us. We will not provide a shipping label or compensate for shipping costs of the item to us.

Again, flat black pieces are ready to ship in 1-2 days. Gloss we're still waiting to get back from powder coat.

What's up guys? No one really feeling these grills anymore; everyone just doing the cheapo China pro grills now?

Been almost a month since anyone but myself have posted.

Still considering here. The cheapo faux pro's are hard to pass up but seems like everyone has them now. The only thing holding me back is the bezel. I prefer the bezel-less design (like grillcraft mx). But they don't have TSS. At the pricing it's an important decision to ensure I'm happy with it. ;)

The absolute best I can offer to you, if you're seriously considering the 2018 we have to offer, is that I'll ship one to you at no charge up front (black mesh, unpainted bezel, and no lettering). If you're not happy with it, then ship it back. If you want to keep it then pay me whatever amount you think it's worth, whether that be $1 or $1000.

I'm a big fan of the 16-17 grills, I just have other projects that are higher on the priority list.

IMO, the TSS plate on the '18s is a huge eyesore. I understand theres really no other way to do it, but I think that may be whats turning people off.

Understood. So, with the small sample size of the last couple posts the points of interest are 1) a bezelless grill and 2) the sensor eyesore.

I tried to address both of those issues 3 months ago with the beginning of a prototype starting with this post here:
No one really spoke up on TW. Over the course of a month one owner said he liked it and one said they would buy it. Nobody ever followed through and bought or installed it though.

On Instagram, one owner was willing to install it if I gave it to him for free, and one said that this was pointless and to stick with OEM.

On Facebook, my posts got deleted in TTE and 3rd Gen Tacoma groups before I could get any feedback.

In general feedback was extremely low, compared to what we had for 2016-17's and especially compared to feedback threads about faux pro grills.

A month later I posted a rendering of what the grill should look like on the truck:

This design would have allowed me to integrate the sensor in a LOT better, almost seamlessly. Personally I thought it was odd that I couldn't find 1 person who was willing to put down $150 for it ($250 up front, with $100 refund after installed pics). Again, people seemed more interested in out 2016-17's and faux pros.

Behind the scenes I had been working on the version that is what we are now selling with the bezel and large tss window. I had 5 people that we sent test units to, that to my knowledge all liked the grill once they received them. One of them who had posted here:

At this point I had 5 owners that I think were happy with the bezeled grill, and still to this day I still have in my possession the bezelless prototype grill that no one ever took me up on.

It seemed like the bezeled design was the way to go, or so I thought. The only way to make these profitable at the price we offer them is to make them in bulk, so I ran 300 of them. Live and learn I guess.

If there's genuinely any demand for something similar to the prototype I made 3 months ago, I can revisit that design and come up with a production model. It would need to be a group buy situation though, we've already blown our 2018 Tacoma budget and some on the current design.

For future projects, I'm open to suggestions on how to get better feedback to better meet the demands or expectations of owners. Besides posting here, on my website, IG, and FB, I'm not sure how better I can gauge interest.

Hey, have you thought of a good way to make the emblem(s) removable?

Yes, I've got an idea in my head on how to do it. Unfortunately I've been buried under a couple other projects that are taking a lot longer than expected. I haven't had time to drawn it up and test it yet but it's something I will follow through with eventually.

Are you able to put the garnish cover behind the lettering to avoid the black square? Your grills are awesome but the goddamn TSS is such a pain in the ass
