In 09 I was laid off from work and I went back to school. I got a job offer and I didn't know what to do. I asked my dad what should I do, he didn't say anything until I got in truck to leave. He said stay in school. That turned out to be the best advice I ever got. He passed away 5 months later. Never did get to thank him personally. So, to all dad's out there,,,,Thank You

    Best wishes for you guys.
I know firsthand how back problems can be debilitating and a game changer.

    ....still in the honeymoon phase....

A few years after mine passed I actually picked up the phone and started dialing his number without thinking...

Hopefully she gets better soon. My wife went through a phase of back problems. That was not a fun experience.

Hate to bitch about work but i have a 15 man Scab crew today.missing an operator so ive got them moved around to cover, thats not too bad but out of 5 entry level material handlers 2 are their first day, suppose to have a trainer with them but were shorthanded,Management problem. So,i slowed the line down told the two new ones to hang in there and ask questions i put them with more seasoned material handlers who will bust ass picking up the slack.told one 20yr senior material handler(wonder why he never been promoted)if all he was going to do was hold up that hand rail he was leaning on then just go the %#@@*home,. im getting 20.00 gift cards for the new hires and the ones pickin up the slack to give at end of shift.except the one holding up the dang hand rail thats bolted to the floor.:facepalm:

Good morning folks. Just turned the sprinkler on in the backyard, not "cool" but cooler.

Going to finish watching world cup, finish laundry then go check client houses. The wife closed the store last night (off at midnight) so she won't be up for a couple more hours.

I use to bbq lunch (or have one of my "walking wounded" cook) when I was a platoon sgt for a "job well done". I tried to use it as a motivator when I was the supervisor in El Centro also.

Good morning. Nice out, finally a weekend that is decent and got some things done outside already. A lot more to go still behind about giving up on catching up this year.

Hope she can get some relief soon Marty spent one year going through that with my back and it was hell. Hope never have to go through that again and hope she doesn't have to endure it much longer.

My back is better but got down on my hands and knees to change out the propane tank on the grill couple of nights ago. Left hand finger joints hurt so bad with arthritis couldn't turn the valve and right wrist has something going on now too, it took both hands and a few minutes to turn it. Both knees were killing me some days it is hard to walk and putting pressure on them doesn't do them any favors. Went to stand up and both knees wouldn't work. I grabbed the top of the grill to pull myself up and my hands didn't have any strength in them. 20 years of turning huge steam line valves have taken their toll. Finally got up right and my left ankle gave out, I waited on getting another cortisone shot for hunting season this fall, they will only give so many. Mom is right. Golden years my ass they should be called the rust years. Monday going to call and schedule an appointment with my primary care physician I've had enough.

Thought you all might like to know that the book “Understanding Women” is now out in paperback.

Thanks, yeah it all started just a couple of years ago at around 57. Went downhill in a hurry starting with degenerative arthritis in my left ankle. And now a few other joints the degenerative part is from injuries when your younger. And eventually catches up with you. Found out last year that I have Osteoporosis in the spine and that is what caused the sciatic pain. Getting old ain't for sissies. Kind of worries me a bit now when I think about grouse hunting by myself in the middle of Superior National Forrest without cell phone reception or any way to contact someone. Hell up to this point I was invincible. Now not so much, but at least I'm realizing it. Some days anyhow LOL.
