I asked him just now and he said he’s open to selling locally still if someone buys tomorrow. So if you want it, get on it.

Alright boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen....

I am needing some suggestions and so forth.

As most of you know I work in IT for my full time job, I also work a second job for an auction auction only on Tuesday nights.

I am now wanting to do a my own pace, on my own time, as needed, cash only, side gig that relates to the truck in some form... mainly for money that I can put aside towards debt or truck related expenses.

I am honestly not really sure what I could do, I have slowly built up tools here and there so my building skills have improved as my tools have improved. So building stuff like fridge platforms would be easier and a lot nicer looking. Still no welder and would not have one for a while, so nothing that involves welding yet... but in the future.

I have thought about posting in my local Toyota group that I would be offering different services for people, but I feel like it would offend people if it wasn't on a 12 pack of beer payment type of thing?

Mainly wanting to have an extra supplemental cash that I can just turn around and throw it at debt is all, so may as well... or does this just seem like something that may be pointless right now to try and do?

I have even thought about mowing yards...

Buy a 3d printer, design and make cool and useful accesories for trucks or for whatever.

Or mow yards...:rofl:I bought a fancy new zero turn for the new house and have been considering making an ad to mow around the neighborhood. People are charging $60-100 per yard these days. Problem with doing yards is upkeep on equipment and can get expensive when things break.

Unless you can build fridge slide for 10$ and sell for 100 and knock it out in a few hours it won’t be worth it. Not sure how big the demand is on a fridge slide also Without a welder it will be tough. Someone can want something as simple as welding a light tab on or welding an entire bedrack together. For a side gig the money isn’t there especially without welding and mechanical abilities. If it was just for fun sure you can do it. I’m not trying to discourage but being realistic.

Possibly charging to install a lift? Great you charge them cheaper than a shop and if something goes wrong that’s a huge liability because they paid you for a service vs just helping a friend.

A lot of members and truck guys are hands on and seek out additional help they can’t do themselves whether it be knowledge or specialty tools like welding, fabrication, electrical, mechanical. I hope it helps and I know it’s not the answer you want to hear

Ha. I have honestly thought about getting a good 3d printer and getting into designing stuff for 2nd gens since it all about the 3rd gens, but looks like the main guy is starting to do 2nd gen stuff now lol.

Without a welder, not much I can do right now and I know that, but I am looking to get on by the end of the year so I can start doing small things to my own truck here and there when needed and start making small things like light tabs and such.

Yea, that is why I would not want to charge for installing lifts and such because of the liability, but just to help out and for some beer and tacos!

I will start making 100% vegan organic jewelry that will be one with the earth and blessed and pure. It will provide balance and stability as it has been brought to the center of my light in forging and chakra has been called upon to bless it.

You said you're looking for cash only, which kinda limits you to your immediate area in Tyler. Building Tacoma/camping accessories would most likely have to be done online. I'm sure @Zac of all trades can provide his input/experience selling his bed mounts/brackets. I tried to start a business with some friends and it turns out, it's hard work. Too much for some that were involved. If you want a successful small business you really do have to hustle just to make a couple hundred bucks here and there.

With you being in the car auction business, do you have the funds and capability to flip cars/bikes? Find some cars at the auction clean them up/fix the small problems and sell on Craigslist/Facebook Market etc. I think with flipping cars, you can make more than a few hundred with the right buys. But, you'll have a few thousand tied up at any one time on a car. Maybe there's something else you can build that's more universal? Like workbenches

Yea, I would rather keep it cash only for tax purposes.... ha.

The auction business is dealer only, so if I wanted to do that, I would have to get a dealers license and that is a lot of start up costs that I don't have and don't want to put in right now.

Yea, work benches could be something I could do as I have built a couple before and have the tools to do it.

One thing I was thinking of getting back into was doing stuff with old license plates. I had made a huge Texas that was backlit and everything that the only material cost was the plywood and some nails... ended up being able to sell it for $150, so may look at doing stuff like that again.

Nice! I wanted to see what those toolboxes were, but never replied to the comment... oh well!

Anyone else get offered $150 to go to Irving and answer questions about your Taco for market research for 2 hours? Think I'm gonna take them up on it.

I should of taken a pic. If you end up seeing a pic I could pick it up for you. I'll probably be going back by in a few days, probably picking up some jerry cans from him.
