For sure. Harvey was one of the biggest contributing factors to me getting a 2018. That and used tend to not be much cheaper.

In my 7 months of owning an ‘18, TSS has saved my bacon twice. I’ll gladly take it.

The Volvo equivalent in my wife’s XC90 also decreases fatigue by an incredible amount. Granted, Toyota has a LONG way to go to catch up to what Volvo has, but it’s a good start.

The new one will cost 10k more with a TRD package than a 2016 or 2017 with a few miles on it. I don't think I can spend the extra 5-10k for a new one, but I might go visit the dealership and see if they will give me a deal. The guy I talked to on the phone last night really put me off. I am really paranoid about buying a flood truck, but a used truck with extras would cost thousands less. Damn Harvey! I am still trying to repair my house, so I really can't deal with a flood truck as well.

That truck in the link I posted does have rust, which is telling in a two year old truck. I found another '16 that has none. That doesn't mean it wasn't flooded.

You should be able to get a new 4x4 for not much more than used.

If your getting $15k I would most definitely consider looking at new. Do some research at various dealers around you. Might surprise you!

I have to keep my payments as low as possible, but I will keep looking.

I have been seeing 0% Financing or $1000 Rebate on the new ones, used will have a higher interest rate.

I couldn’t imagine you’re payments would be to high with an SR model.

I know, but I want a TRD package. I am pitting some dealerships against each other. lol I have a really sweet used 2016 with zero rust that I can see, but there are some new 4x4s with TRd packages for around 5k more. I have to decide if I can afford another $100+ per month. This would be an easy decision if not for Harvey, damn it!

You can haggle the price down on a new one. Won't be able to do it as much on a used one. It was only like a 2-3k difference on new vs used for me when I was looking. Easy decision imo. You may be seeing different in your location though.

The Sr and sr5 are very capable off road (all Toyota 4×4 are) and are usually in the low 30k's new. They also have less safety features I believe. I have an 18 OR with no blind spot monitoring and you can turn the lane departure stuff off. The pre collision stays on along with adaptive cruise. No problems with those. Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.

Tacocon, very true. I have talked two dealerships down from 39k to 36 including TTL, and one already said to come see him first. lol I have to see what my CU will do. If they can do better than 4.5%, which is what my interest would be at 72 months (can't afford the higher payments for shorter terms), then the new double cab with TRD Offroad that they have on the lot would be doable. The other new one is a double cab TRD Sport for the same price, but why?? Isn't the TRD Sport package less expensive than the Offroad?

StayinStock, true, and I might have to go that route, but I sure want a TRd package. I have to be able to afford the truck, though.

The sport and offroad are similarly priced, not sure why.

If you really have to go the used route, maybe look at driving out to Austin or San Antonio for the peace of mind?

Actually, I just found a 2017 model with a TRD Off Road package, never owned, paperwork to prove it isn't a flood truck, and the dealer is anxious to get it gone. I will test drive it and a handful more on Monday, or if they make that '17 too sweet a deal to pass up, I might just skip the rest. :D

The Sport and the Off Road have the Exact Same MSRP, the SR and SR5 will be less.

    I'd say go 2nd gen. I like the 4.0L V6 a lot more than the 3rd gen 3.5L V6.

this is my 4th toyota truck and possibly my last, so I want it to be as close to my dream truck as possible. That 2017 is new. It is the last of last years models, and it has around 20 test drive miles on it. This is it. If it isn't "the one", then there are 2018s out there in colors that I can stomach. lol
