Diesel Comparison

Hey guys, just curious on what the vast majority would go for..

I've been considering a F-250 for quite some time now as I am a huge pro diesel advocate.. Anyways..

Which is better? Powerstroke, Duramax or Cummins???
State Why!!!

Personally, I've only seen/heard incredible things about Cummins.. But I am truly not a "Dodge" guy. Chevy just aint my thing..Though the Duramaxs' are decent.. And I've had a few work trucks with the Powerstrokes. Which from personal experience, i believe to be the best over all motor.

never personally owned one but have been around a lot of all 3, and id say cummins first, then d-max second.

 

Cummins motor is good, but the Dodge they put them in is garbage. Dad had a 99 Ram 2500 CTD. Awesome truck when it wasn't in the shop. Had it for 5 years, put 70k on it and had 3 trans replaced. It was a lease and when we turned it in, the gas gauge, A/C, keyless entry, fog lights, brake lights, rear window seal, rear end seal, and transfer case seal were all bad. We had the gas gauge fixed 3 times from the dealer and it still wasn't working. It was a total POS!

 

didnt dodge upgrade to the allison tranny no too long ago?

 

I'm not sure about Dodge, but I know GM did.

 

you need to buy all three. dodge motor, ford body, and a chevy interior, oh and toyota reliability. i think all three motors have their perks, my statements ore not facts, but opinions.
dodge= best for pulling power, farm use
chevy= best for tuning up (getting the most HP out of), street use
ford= best for all around use, pulls good and tunes good, but not as good as the others, but as in diesel its just as good

would that not add up to best pulling power, seeing as how these trucks are made for towing and have the necessary brakes and whatnot?

 

Either the 7.3 powerstroke or any cummins.

 

not for an argument, just my opinion. you can look up truck pulls on youtube and find some awesome pulls by chevy. so im not saying more HP=better pull, it is, but for how long?. i just think the trucks in whole are better at what they do individualy.

Listen to me soon to be diesel owner!!! I owned a 96 dodge diesel 4x4 and an 2004 Dodge diesel 4x4. I am telling you that there is no better diesel than a cummings period. They have the fewest moving parts and the most torque all from a straight 6...not a v8. When mercedes bought dodge they really worked on the fit and finish....German fit and finish is the best. Ford has had massive problems with their diesels for years, the only exception would be the early powerstrokes.

i guess what im saying is... if you want a farm truck i would buy the dodge, dont do anything to it, just work the shit out of it.....if you want a fast truck, buy the chevy, and mod the shit out of it......if you just want a truck (diesel) for everyday use, buy the ford, leave it alone and drive it like a truck.

 

Cummins is definatly the best but the older 7.3L powerstrokes where some damn good engines to. I used to drive a work truck with a 7.3L in and i have choose to 300,000 on it and we beet the shit of it everyday.

myself, im a dodge diesel kinda guy. great engine and i love how the truck looks, but thats just me.

 

A buddy knows a guy with a 98 cummings.
With that said he is a rancher and his daughter goes cross country riding horses. 1 million + miles on it and all he does is rountine mant. Only major things he has done is changed out the sleeves twice

 

But with that said the new ford motor is supposed to be pretty sick!! Only time will time

 

The 7.9L was better than the 7.3, but I'd go Cummins myself. Friggin' tanks.

 

My dad has an 06 power stroke and he had to replace the turbo twice.
