I used Dexron III ATF when I flushed my power steering system. That was the very first thing I did on my truck, one of my first threads on this forum was me asking about it.

Yeah, some things stay pretty similar. These things are just an absolute blast to drive. Looks like I can replace it's VG30 engine with a newer VG33 engine easily and be good to go after doing a little correction in NISTUNE

My PS cap has been "moist" seemingly with PS fluid since day 1 of owning my truck. Odd thing is, I check the fluid level regularly and it never goes down....always at the full mark. But the reservoir and cap is always wet.

    LOL. ain't that the truth.

1st truck I rebuilt was an '84 Toyota pick up. Had to get a washer fluid motor/pump. 2nd '98 Tacoma used the same pump. 3rd truck was my '08 Tundra. The all use the same pump...as in original ,1984 pump. I just kept moving it from rebuilt truck to rebuilt truck.

I giggle every time I hit the bug fluid lever and remember that pump is 30+ years old.

Nah, they're like the 5VZ, they're a dime a dozen except these came in more vehicles. VG30 is hiding in Pathfinders, hardbodies, xterras, maximas, quest, mercury and ford villager and windstar (they made it non interference just for those two vans because people who buy american have poor maintenance habits). I wouldn't want one out of a van for because they have less valve lift to be non interference, but any of the others are all the same long block, strap the accessories on from the car and go. I think it is worth it to put a VG33 in because it is the same block with a different crank for more stroke. Everything else will still bolt up to it, including the turbo I intend to slap on it.

The engine is crazy strong, i don't know how this one failed but it must be pretty poorly maintained to have died.

Get some zip ties on it before it does real damage.

Let’s hope this fixes my evap code. I’m going to drop it off at the shop Monday, I had them replace the transmission gasket six months ago and if anything the leaking got worse.
