You still have the KM-2's Drew?

I saw that you got the lifetime alighnment, good call. I got the 3 year on mine about 2 months ago, and about to go in for my 3rd time. Everytime I go offroad it gets whacked out. Anyt thoughts as to why? Probably my cheap spacer lift.

Yeah, I have 255/85/16 KM2s. It's the size not the type that is hard to find

I've only really messed up my alignment bad once. The other 4 times I've used the lifetime alignemnt was for suspension changes, lol

Yeah, Drew, it's wise to have 2 spares for the hard to find pizza cutters. The 285's and 265's the rest of us run can be had just about anywhere

I looked for some tires your size Drew, and not too many people have them. To Greg's point. I dropped mine off at 8:30 to get the spare put on a rim. The guy didn't have the tire, and said it might be a day. He called me an hour later, and said all was ready to go. Now I got a full size spare, and a donut (stock size).

I bought a compact cb and couldn't for the life of me find a place to mount it that I liked. I was even willing to do some cutting, etc. to make it fit right and no matter what, it just wasn't going to happen. So I returned it and coughed up some extra money for a Cobra 75. Those things are sweet. Now just waiting for the brown truck to drop it off.

How much did you get the Cobra 75 for and where did you get it?

Just googled it. Ended up getting it from Amazon. $92 shipped.

I hear they're good radios and you can mount them anywhere. It's easy to make them disappear from prying eyes too.

I did the exact same thing. I bought, what I thought to be, a small Midlan radio. Thought I could find a place to mount it, and couldn't. I went on, and bought a Cobra 75, and not just have to mount the inverter box, or whatever that is called.
The magnetic antenae is doing great on top of the truck. I have hit some trees, and got up to 80 with it up there.

All I've got are a couple Cobra Walkie-talkies... I doubt I will be able to afford a CB especially if I add some trail armor...

It's not set in stone but it looks like:
Day 1- Chokecherry Canyon. I'll do Anasazi Refrigerator and the Playground, I may also take my group through parts of Upper and Lower Rim trails. Graham will probably take his group on Waterfall and maybe Cobra for those that are up to it (I'm sure he has other stuff in mind too). That night I have plans to camp at a lake just past Silverton on the way to Ouray. It will take up to 2 hours to get there from Farmington so we won't want to leave past 3 or so. We'll need to set up camp and it can get dark a little early at the bottom of a canyon next to a 14,000 ft peak.

Day 2- Black Bear Pass and hopefully Poughkeepsie Gulch (depending on time). We'll probably camp in Telluride that night.

Day 3- Probably Imogene Pass. I'll probably keep it to a half day so people can start heading home if they want. For those that want to fill the day and camp an extra night, I was thinking of coming back down to Aztec Rock Garden. This is a challenging place near Navajo Reservoir Campgrounds which puts people a little farther south to drive home the next day.

This may change a bit but as of now, that's what I have in mind.

Google some of those spots and tell me what you think.

Everything looks good. I just wanted to make sure you were taking us on things that are doable and that we have a game plan because I know a lot of those mining roads in Silverton are super tight and not the safest for trucks to go on. If we all had ATVs we could go to the top of that mountain at 14000 ft. I'm pretty stoked for the trip.

I'm a TTORA member that respects and enjoys the site but an invitation over there wasn't necessary. We've made a good size group on TW just fine. I don't want a mob of 20+ trucks on this trip. While a ton of trucks would make for cool picture opportunities, it would also slow things down big time. Getting a huge gang through those tight trails would be a traffic jam pain in the ass and fairly inconsiderate to outsiders trying to enjoy the same trails. Finding a place to camp for all those people is at best, a nightmare, at worst, impossible. There are people traveling quite far for this trip and I want them to be consistently wheeling, not doing an obstacle then waiting an hour for everyone else to do the same obstacle.

    Where are you in CO?

The trip looks awesome Greg, and I get more excited for it every day. On Monday i hit some pretty tough trails here locally. Some 4 diamonds that gave some jeeps that I was riding with a hard time. Lets me think that I am more capable than I thought. Other than a crazy noise that I have acquired after driving through some water.

On this trip, the bulk of your wheeling will be going up/down sand stone ledges and climbing/descending very steep, rutted hills. I would argue a longer wheelbase is the winner around here. Doing that stuff in a short wheel base Jeep can be an ass puckering experience to say the least. In these parts, you'll see many of the Jeeps lengthen their wheel base. The length obviously makes you more stable but also keeps more weight on the uphill tires (a good thing for traction while climbing and braking while descending).

That's not to knock the short Jeeps. Those are wonderful when maneuvering through tight boulder gardens and narrow, tree choked, winding trails. For our local terrain though, your truck should be a winner. Where we pay the price is approach and departure angles. Those butts and noses sticking out like to scrape the ground and ledges.

Probably 10:00. I didn't want to start too early so people would have some time to travel in the morning. At the entrance to Chokecherry Canyon there is a huge meeting area. If you google map farmington, nm, look at the north end of town where Pinon Hills Blvd meets 30th St. Go about a mile north on Pinon Hills Blvd and you'll see a dirt road called Glade Rd that heads north. That's it. We'll meet at Pinon Hills Blvd and Glade Rd. The trails we'll be hitting are to the west of the first few miles of Glade Rd.

Sweet! What all is being installed? Anything else planned?
