Highly doubt Toyota would throw itself in risky waters (no pun intended) by saying the snorkel is for water submersion. As stated in posts it’s meant to provide clean air in dessert/dusty conditions.
Can you imagine the sheer amount of warranty claims from people saying their engine seized from going underwater?

What mods have you spent all that extra money on? In Southern California you can’t even buy a new SR5 for $32,500. Cheapest you’ll be getting an OR double cab is $37-$38k. I’m not going to install TRD snorkel, but the $5k I paid extra for my Pro was worth it. Quite a list of upgrades the OR does not have. There is a market for just about everything I pull off my truck, unlike throw away OR used parts. And my resale value is higher, while a modded OR will never get back anything from a mod unless parted out and sold to a knowledgeable person. Any upgrade I make will be offset a bit by selling my Pro parts. I already made a profit on my wheels and bought brand new SCS Ray 10. That being said, it would have been hard for me to turn down an OR with the trim level I wanted for $32,500. That’s a hell of a deal.

    They will cost more.

I'll wager a Diet Coke that the base price is up $2-3k, and 'packages' around 10% more.

Until they make that as accurate as my Garmin, with free lifetime updates, and lower the price to match my Garmin, I'd never have any interest.

I'll admit the big screen is nicer. Until it fails.

I totally uunderstand why people would buy a pro. I get it. But, I’m just not willing to spend the extra money for the add ons. I’ve said it before, if the Pro were supercharged than I definitely feel it would be worth the extra money. The fact is, to me if the motor is the exact same as what I have I can’t justify buying a Pro for the leather, hood scoop, shocks, skid plate, wheels, and black heads and tails.

I understand that others feel comfortable doing that, but I’m not in that boat I guess. I got my truck for a good deal and with the MSRP price alone for the Pro not including mark ups if applicable, that’s a lot of negotiating to do to get the price down if they will even work with you. I am waiting to do substantial mods, but they will be done. I am not going to go extreme but I will definitely get new wheels and a minimal lift to start. Just waiting until I feel the time is right.

Well hats off to good negotiation!
Dealers laughed and made fun of me when I asked for anything below MSRP for the Pro. Wasn’t excited about paying sticker either, but I am happy with purchase.
Yeah I won’t be adding a lift until my 2yr/ 24,0000 is up. And with the lead time most fab shops have, Tacoma’s will be well into the new model year before I start installing my armor and skids. I ordered full set of skids and sliders on 2/24/18.... Still waiting. It’s going to take some time just to do the research and receive half of this stuff!

CarPlay will be part of Entune 3 and is only supposed to be on the Avalon for 2019. I imagine Tacoma will get it at some point but most likely not 2019

I know many have seen this, but for those that haven’t this is the commercial showing the snorkel breather appendage.

Pro's are basically the previous trail teams, its every reasonable accessory bolted on from the catalog.

The Rav4 platinum is like this as well. So a snorkel will likely be standard if its available.

Standard to the TRD Pro trim, not other trims.

Yep, or we'd see a lot more Chev's and Ford's in 2019 :bananadance:

Well great! Maybe they can put a matching one on the other pillar that is a periscope so it can be a submarine/truck. Lol!

I don’t think it will be standard on a Pro. TRD Performance intake wasn’t stock on 2018 Pro, and TRD snorkel is in that realm.
I think it will likely be an option, and a very pricey one.
If it is standard on the Pro I could only imagine the price tag that sucker will have!
