I may have gotten a bad batch of relays. Do you have a multimeter that can test continuity? With no power to the relay pins 1 / 5 and 2 / 6 should have continuity. When power is applied pins 3 / 5 and 4 / 6 should have continuity.

Just went to try this and my meter is all messed up. I’ll try to get it to a friends house and try, or I could send it to you if you’d like.

My IG1 No.2 fuse was out which caused all the issues but I’ve also reverted back to stock wiring for the locker as I believe that was the culprit

Does the mod work correctly now?

Mine worked fine to begin with, but I had the same issues someone else was having in relation to the mod so I went back to stock to rule out the mod as the cause.

Still haven’t put the relay back in though

My only bug was the clip popping off of the stator on the ac condenser causing a short. I had my compressor, clutch, and condenser replaced the day before i had the issues (oem was not cheap). Completely unrelated, but with similar problems lol
Removing the mod was pretty much just troubleshooting.

I just tried to tackle this today, and I used one of the Etsy relays. Hooked up ground to 7 and red/black to 8 as suggested, and the fuse blew as OP warned. Then I switched 7 and 8, engaged the locker switch, and smoke started coming out of the switch ffs. Not sure what to do next I've checked connections over and over and now I'm just glad I noticed the smoke and my truck didn't burn. Any ideas?

Only thing I can think of is checking the ground, and starting over like unplug everything from the relay and put everything back onto it. The pink and red/black stripe looked the same to me at first because the black stripe is only on a sliver of the wire, maybe check that one too?

I’ve used mine twice since putting it back in and it’s worked well knock on wood

Terminal 7 on the relay is marked positive - is this really where the ground should be attached? I heard the relay click on when I turned the truck on, so it seems like the switch isn't connected properly

Pin 8 is the one marked with the label and red paint on the connector. Pin 8 is on the same side as the LED if the markings get removed for some reason. As you have discovered if you get it the wrong way around it will blow the fuse. What year is your truck?

It's a 2006 - I blew the fuse when I hooked up 7 and 8 like in the OP, so I swapped them, and that's when the smoke came out of the switch

Check your connections and make sure they are going into the correct connectors on the relay. I'll dig out the wiring diagram tomorrow and see if I can diagnose where the connections may have gone wrong.

So just for clarification, my relay has the following pins:

    1- -2
    3- -4
    5- -6
    7| |8

and 7 is the one marked with the red paint. Is this a different relay by chance?
