The 2018's have adaptive cruise control, but there's no need to use it if you don't want to. Just press and hold the CC button when activating it and it operates just like "plain ole". Simple.

I open the door as I'm turning off the car and, while I'm trying to grab all my stuff out so I don't have to make multiple trips into the house, I just hear ding..ding..ding..ding..ding..ding.. drives me and my wife nuts.
I don't want to disable the switch, I just want the dinging to stop when the car turns off-- as it should have been programmed to do in the first place.

Can anyone who's had the dealer fix this explain more? I searched the Techstream PDF that was attached above and didn't find anything that would help.

@GC4x4 Dude just turn off the truck FIRST before you open the door. If not, push the "door open" button. The reason it dings and dings is because it need to know the door is shut before it'll lock the steering column. So when the doors open and it's dinging, shutting the door enables the column to lock rotation to help prevent theft. Easiest solution is to wait to open the door before turning the truck off.

Or just get the hell out fast and lock the truck! Or you could alway press that rubber switch on the door jam once and it’ll shut up for that instance. No wiring or programming needed. My first post on this page, post #61.

I notice that sometimes when i open the door after turning off the engine it starts chiming, and other times it doesnt. Why does it only chime sometimes?

Just turn the engine off before opening the door.

Also, if you want to keep listening to that awesome song on the radio, just shift into neutral, kill the engine, then shift into park.

I get it, they are both small annoyances but there are easy workarounds to both.

Why anyone would cut wires, zip tie, screw, or otherwise fiddle with things to “solve” such a minor thing is beyond me.

    First world problems..

Take the rubber boot off. Tape down pressure button with HD tape. Put boot back on. Done

Totally get it, and I do most of the time, but when I open the door and hit the key at the same time it’s bound to happen— and it’s annoying when it does.
I’d love to correct this if it’s an easy software solution like the dealer fixes suggest, but I would agree— I’m not interested in making work-around physical modifications to solve a software problem.

I sometimes do it too. When I do, I just bump that switch and all is well.

I believe there is a setting in the head unit for distance on that feature.

For the 3rd Gens, it is on the back of the instrument panel. You will lose other sounds such as turn signal and 4Lo not engaging.

    SOLVED THE ISSUE COMPLETELY
    Here is how:
unscrew the door screw that holds on the black rubber piece, unplug the connector, note there is no way to reconnect this because the wire is so short.
It was a total accident but its awesome.

    SOUND IS GONE EVERYTHING WORKS

Option 2:take rubber piece off and stuff tape or something inside to hold the button down, note the plug might come out when your putting it back on so be careful
