OME kit on a 2018 with 887 coils and standard Darak leafs?

I've been going through all the treads in the 3rd get forum and I fail to see anyone really running that kit.

I want to do the sport 90021 shocks and the standard Dakar leafs. I just bought a 2018 TRD OR DCSB and want to just lift it a little. (2-2 1/4 inches) I had the ICON stage 3 on my 2008 Tacoma for about 7 years. I have a RTT and a rack on my rear end but thats it and 40lbs of skids in the front. I won't do a bumber or anything for a long time.

Who's running this setup and what are your reviews? How's the ride? How much did it settle?

 

I can tell you this much, running 2888+5100's was 3" lift settled to 2.5-2.75". The full dakar leaf pack in the back did not settle, but I carry no weight in the rear, other than sliders. I think you can remove a leaf for less lift....but I would double check that. You could call Marie at headstrong offroad, she would have definative answers for you.

 

I talked to a local shop that sells these. They claim it'll be the best setup. The 888's would ride really rough and lift me up a little higher than 2 1/4 inch according to them with no aftermarket parts bolted on the front end. But after going through all the threads it seems everyone is running 888's over the 887?

 

And I swear there was a really good 3rd gen thread about OME lifts that I just cannot find...

 

Been looking for pictures of this setup myself for my longbed. Hope those running this setup can chime in with a few pics.

 

My kit rides like a truck should. It's not as "plush" as the factory, but would NEVER put it in the same category as rough or harsh. It's as perfect as it could be imo. I have a camper shell, and after taking it off for 3 weeks for some modifications, noticed no difference with or without it. The front end turns real good, kept the factory sway bar, so no lean in corners. I don't wheel at all, its a daily commuter, but I do hunt alot, and use it primarily on muddy roads.

 

This is basically the same lift I am looking to purchase, but with the HD Dakar leaf springs (recommended to take one out for better ride). Going to talk with Marie this week to see what she thinks.

 

Still on the fence between this and the Icon stage 2 adjusted to 2inches. I keep reading bad reviews of their 3 leaf add a leaf... Rough life eh?

 

Have the 90021 shocks with the 888 springs, much better ride over the stock setup, have standard dakar's in the rear, added the 3 degree shim, rear carrier drop, all angles lined up nicely.

Not rough at all, plus just a little more lift..now running 285/75/16

why the 888's over the 887's?

I'm stock upfront other than 40lbs of skids and i'm not adding a winch just a braket to do a plug and play Warn that hooks to a trailer hitch soon. The braket weighs 21lbs

 

Went with them as they provide just a little more lift, and they are considered a medium duty spring which I figured would be better off later on. Here is some height information based on the springs from OME.

 

Yeah thanks for that! I've seen that chart. That is why I think i'm going for the 887's I just want a couple inches of clearance without all the drive line issues. Thanks for the chart mate!

 

Getting installed on Monday - 886 with Dakar leaf. Up front I've got a Warn semi-hidden bumper with winch, aluminum skids, roof rack with kayak and paddleboard carriers. In back - roof top tent, Road Shower (4 gallon), bed mounted cargo drawer/slide. I'll eventually go with dual batteries up front and a Dometic fridge in the bed.

When you add up camping gear, food, water, etc. along with your roof top tent, you might consider the heavy Dakars.

If you're in no hurry, I'll give a full report once they've been on a week.

I have had no driveline issues just a little rub in the front, the CMC took care of that but when I put the 16" tires on I got it back. Just haven't got back into it to correct it yet.

 

I constantly get around 18mpg with my setup.

 

I ski a lot and have a lot of snow driving 5 months outta year and the KO2 has been the best tire in packed snow for me. Might try those coopers.

 

Those might work, ya no snow down here and I am running the toyo's been a great tire so far.

 

How does the ride differ/compare to stock OR suspension?

Definitely don't want anything too rough.
