Coolers...what kind, size and why???....GO!

They are replacing it. Might not be here for my thanksgiving trip which is one of the reasons I bought it, so that's a bummer.

 

What’s th final opinion?? I finally got my replacement today. Customer service over there is not the easiest to deal with, and that’s if you get a response..

 

Yeti 45 has served me well for a few years.


I recently went to order an RTIC 65 for bigger jobs.....but danmintman they've gone up in price a good bit.

 

I have two trip modes, multiple week trips, and 5 days and under. I bring my 30qt Pelican for the super long trips becasue I know I'll need the ice longevity and I don't pack a whole lot of frozen/refrigerated things for those trips. For shorter trips or trips where I have more than just myself, I bring a 70qt Coleman Extreme where I can bring a whole lot more drinks and cookable items. For most trips where I am packing for just myself the Pelican is a good deal.

 

Considering an Rtic 45 or 65. Rtic owners opinions appreciated cheers.

 

I bought a YETI to justify the hat I've been wearing.

 

I bought an Rtic 65 at the beginning of the season. I'm pretty disappointed. I had an igloo Max cold. Thinking I'd get a couple more days before going to the store to get ice where we stay at the lake during the summer. It's basically the same. I don't know if I got a bad one or what. I've even precooled the night before. Now I've got a heavier less holding version of my previous cooler.

 

Be sure to check out the Siberian Alhpa coolers. I also have ORCA and have done the big brand coolers, and have found Siberian to beat them all so far.

 

Which the pro or outback series?

 

I have the Alpha Pro and couldn’t be happier with it. I’m likley going to unload my ORCA and get another Alpha. Both of those beat prior Yetis but Yeti and Engel (excellent coolers) kind of set the standard and never really improved in my opinion. Like everything else, cooler competition has gotten extreme and we benefit because of it.

 

LOVE my Rtic 45. Hate my Yeti 65 because it leaks for the lid not sealing. Thats the exact same thing that happened with my Yeti 75 that i traded for the 65. Im out on Yeti.

 

go on CL search for Dometic fridges, low ball them then buy.

 

That's funny, I was thinking about going to a yeti from my Rtic. Documented a couple posts up, my Rtic doesn't keep ice any longer than my igloo did. We're going to be gone 12 days next week, space is limited so I'm not even taking the Rtic, I'm going back to the old igloo. Crazy to spend money like that on a cooler and not even use it. I'm probably going to sell it locally.

 

Very happy with my Yeti products. I have a yeti 20 and a yeti 65, and have had 0 issues with them. both keep ice longer than I need them to.

 

I got the Rtic through my work as a safety award so it was free. The Yeti 75 i bought on OfferUp with tags still attached and brand new never used condition. It leaked from the lid seal. So i traded it for the 65 that was brand new, never used, tags attached and all that shit from a different guy on OfferUp. It leaks from the lid also. Im starting to think maybe these "brand new never used" are seconds or something. When i bought the 75 i actually bought 4 for really cheap and sold 3 which paid for the one i kept. Im not actually out any money but 2 coolers that leak is kinda irritating and has turned me off to Yeti.

 

You can kind of see my 65qt pelican in there. Before I made the purchase almost 2 years ago the wife and friends called me crazy. However you don’t beat Lifetime warranties for starters. Secondly the name pelican is synonymous with cases and tough cases throughout its history. This past week I chilled it with a 1lb bag of ice and added 3lbs of ice with all over our camp food/drinks. The drive up on the 1st of July it got cooked in the bed at constant temps of 90°... 72 hours and highs of 85-92° with high humidity and I only added 3 more bags at the end of that third day. From there on out ice was always retained at the bottom and everything was kept from spoiling. (Fruit, vegetables, carnitas, lemons, tomatoes, corn, strawberries, wine, to name a few things that we had). You know the best part is getting the compliment from the wife on how stoked she is that everything was kept cold.

For me it was a solid investment. I also put things in perspective and realize that 5 days of ice retention is something that is more easily achievable by these coolers when temps are sub 70°. Which is ideal weather for being outdoors. Just my .02

 

I have a 50qrt Bison coolers cooler for the boat, when i go to the beach i have a back pack soft ozark trail. Just like a yeti but like 80% off! The Bison cooler holds ice amazing but alittle on the $$$ side. Still cheaper than yeti though
