You’re right it is too high. Unsecured load isn’t out of the question, but who knows what that bondo is hiding. CarFax reports no accidents.

Yeah I wasn't expecting it to point out any important events, but it's a great resource for finding the federally reported records, owner history, SMOG records, etc. I found out it failed SMOG a few years back and Toyota of Sacramento put a brand new catalytic converter.

 

Now you have a good baseline CAT, take it off and store it until your SMOG tests come up on either truck

Everyone I show this truck to is just shocked when I tell them it had a fifth wheel hitch mounted in it. Seriously, who buys a compact 5-lug Manual Tacoma to tow a fifth wheel trailer with?

Huh never would have thought of that. Only issue the 5-lug has mechanically is a clogged EGR valve. Have to take it off one of these days and clean it out before I can get the California title for it.

Have to drive it around too. Emissions monitors are not even close to being ready.

 

Gross, an EGR on the V6? Weird, especially for a fed emissions model that late in production. Does the hood sticker mention EGR?

 

That would make sense. The 1st owner of this truck was a company, it was a fleet vehicle who I assume installed the hitch. They drove it something like 250,000 miles in the first three years since it was new.

Both my trucks have EGR, my PreRunner makes sense because it's a Cali-Spec Fremont Toyota truck. My 5-lug, on the otherhand, was a 48 State Emissions truck. The first owner bought it in Sparks, Nevada and immediately drove it to Sacramento where it spent its whole life.

The sticker on the hood does have the EGR valve in the diagram, and I do see the EGR valve near the firewall.

 

Still pulled like shit. Trailer axles needed to be a bit farther back or just a longer trailer.

Couldn’t go over like 35 or the back end would go crazy.

 

Pretty much every USDM 3RZ and 2RZ has EGR, but even starting in 95 the V6 didn't always have it and is most often found without it.

 

Most of the 4Runner 5VZ's I see have an EGR, again probably because of Cali. Let me go check the production date on the 5-lug, I know it's older than my PreRunner.

 

Yep. Definitely has an EGR and is Federal Regulation Spec’d. My PreRunner is California Spec’d.

I have done some very rough drops, so I can't say I'm surprised. I'm sure worn body mounts and a flexible frame are to blame.
