Okay, so I asked my wife what she thought I should do, but she has no mechanical knowledge and was little help. So Tacoma World, I give you the option to way in on my options.

School is out and summer school is about to begin so I'm going to have some extra spending money. I know there is search button and I have been using it faithfully for the last 3 days (so don't bother if that is your suggestion).

The rear set up is pretty simple.
Dakar Leaf pack with the same brand shock as the front.

    The front.
    Option 1:
Bilstein 5100, OME 885 springs, 5mm trim packer for Drivers side, and new UCA
I think with this option I would also need the smallest spacer to get the full 3 inch lift.
Issue with this is that I would have to assemble the strut, and I not sure if a factory coilover is a better choice.

    Option 2:
    Toytec coilovers, new UCA
Issue with this option is that I don't want to crank the shocks up to get the full 3 inches

    Option 3:
Either Icon or SAW coilovers, new UCA
Issue with this lift is the price.

I'm not sure if it will help but I'm planning on running 17 in XD revolvers inside 265/70/17.

Any insight or positive feedback is welcome.

With your option 1.. you could pay wheelers offroad to pre-assemble everything for you so its just plug and play :mudding:

    Just a thought!

I went with 5100's and OME coils w/aal and absolutely love it! It was a little lighter on the wallet too.

I'm a fan fo your option 1- In part. I'd recommend looking at the Dakar leaves for the back. I'd also suggest looking at the OME shocks with the OME springs- They are made to go together like PB&J.

Assembling the strut isn't really a big deal. Look around and you may be able to find the top caps to pre-build them.

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I plan on getting the Dakar leaves, Brunes, but thanks for the advice. I'm just a little worried that there will not be much travel left in the billys if I install the 885 coils. I'm still looking for a place to order the top caps.

    Damn-I totally thought I read Deaver....DeeDeeDeee.

Dealers will sell them to you- 50 bucks a piece, plus 30 or so for the isolators. You can try to catch the folks who are swapping out parts and see if they have any.

So I have been reading that some people have problems with the 5100s' travel when paired with the 885s. Would it be better to use the 5125 billys?

Well look at it this way. Your stock suspension (LCA's, UCA's) if it had 4" up travel and 4" down travel.

If you lift it 3"? Then you would end up with 7" up travel and 1" down travel. Your truck would be prone to "wheel float", when negotiating uneven terrain.

It may not work out as simple as that. But this gives you an idea of the limitations of the 3" lift on your stock components.

What's your plans for your truck? Is it a 4WD??

Yea I have to agree with Mark. From what I have read it seems OME shocks are a little better than the 5100s. So i would go with the full OME lift, save a little, and get some new UCAs

I would go with option 1 and go with 285s instead. A lot of people say that its better to run OME shocks with OME springs so you might want to do that. But i know there are people running bilstiens with ome springs so its your choice. If you do go with bilsteins order from downsouth motorsports, they are a great company to order from

I have a Prerunner. I use my truck as a DD and so moderate offroading. I don't do any crawling, though. I am planning on getting a TC UCA. Will this make a difference. Can you elaborate on wheel float?

By the way, you have one of the nicest trucks I've seen. Super clean!

Wheel float happens when 2 wheel on opposite corners (Drivers front and passengers rear tire) are on higher ground. The tendency will be for the pass. front or the drivers rear to loose traction. Due to the fact that it is almost at full extension. The truck will be prone to "SeaSawing". But like you stated you won't do much crawling.

I do a fair bit of offroad stuff. I normally drive slow so I don't do any unnecessary damage, or wear to anything. I built my truck to be useable, but I would like to take care of my things as much as possible.

So slow speed traction and climbing things smoothly, is very important.

To set your ride height as neutral (Equal amounts of up travel and down travel) as possible is a plus!

As for the UCA's? Yes! That is a must if you want your truck to be an enjoyable DD.;)

I would recommend (I know it's not one of your options) The Procomp DB lift. The basic kit will run you about $1200 and if you shop around 4WP has FREE install from time to time. The basic kit will lift your truck about 4", that with a set of 33" tires will be better than any 3" lift.

Anyone with a 3" lift who has driven over bumps at speed can attest to the suspension "bang" That is the suspension over extending.

And the Procomp is a bolt on system! No cutting for a Prerunner. So that gives you the option of going back to stock, or doing a full blown 6" lift in the future.

It's up to you? Take what I said with a grain of salt.

It's my opinion, and I'm sure others have their opinions. But in the end it's your truck. Make it how you want!:headbang:

    Good Luck!

Not to sound like a moron, but what is a DB lift?

I think I figured out that DB stands for Drop Bracket, but I cannot find a place that sells them online. There is not a 4WP store close by, so I would need to order it online.

After considering the down travel of the shocks, I have started to look at the Icon coilovers. However, this will only give me two inches in the front. Opinions?
