THIS. Why I had wheelers assemble them, didn't want to mess with them at all. Lucky on your local shop, I imagine most here would charge plus there is always the 'who to trust' factor.

You have a cable that runs from a variable valve on the pressure regulator in the trans valve body to the throttle body. Essentially it allows the trans to adjust shifting force/holding for how hard you are accelerating. Greater pedal input means a harder and faster shift (auto trans like this, it is a good thing and stops them from building heat under hard load) but people are picky and don't like hard shifts so with less input it will shift slower and softer at the expense of clutch material and heat. Back in the olden days of autos before electronic intervention it would also let it know to down shift for a hard acceleration but now your ecu does that part. In 03-04 the cable actuated pressure valve was done away with because the electronic throttle body came around too so they stuck an electronic actuator on the trans itself.

i might have to steal your idea... that looks like it'll work fine... i was going to have my father cut a custom bracket out of aluminum, but fitment might not be easy.. your idea looks clean

Thanks, it is called "The Belmont" and it's from CravenSpeed. The finish is really nice and it has all the hardware. Just had to make my own drill template and friction fit piece (my gauge doesn't have threads coming out the back to secure itself in the cup)

It wasn't particularly accurate, I use the ones on my Ultra gauge seen hiding off on the left. That is calibrated for the tires

Tight? I couldn't even get it to fit on my truck even trying to connect it to the stock air box first outside the truck. There was no way I could get the MAF side coupler on, even tried pushing the airaid tube far into the TB side coupler. But after I shortened it, went on with ease & now has room for the couplers to flex with the engine.

I don't know, I actually like the stock airbox. When I bough my truck in 04, PO installed a complete K&N FIPK intake. That thing sucks for offroad dusty conditions. I sold it for good money & bought a complete used intake off a guy on TTORA for $40. It came with a K&N drop in filter already inside it too. Been using that ever since. I did do the deckplate mod to it back then but whatever, it was a waste of time & money also. ;)

What happened to yours, it cracked?

Okay so I love this idea and might steal it for my Viairs but it would be easy to do before the MAF on mine. Does your truck ever go a bit rich from those sucking more air than the truck is using haha

Exactly what I did. Had coils swapped at a shop and the lower mount didn't align. I just placed the three top nuts and snugged them down a bit and had plenty of room to line it up with a screw driver

Oh I love the stock air box but its badly designed. The way they weld the plastic neck to the box is too weak, I've had the neck break several times, did a fix that worked but then smog would not pass so I just keep getting new air boxes. Aftermarket ones are even worse.

Only time I ever run the thing is at idle, truck just sips air at that point so there is zero issues. Only reason it may come on for a second or two would be to keep the lockers going.

Long weekend but got a lot doneAEADED70-0D4F-49D8-AD19-300BF4C9F539.jpg
    -got new tires mounted
    -repainted wheels
-swapped driver side spindle, bad wheel bearing
    -new lower ball joints
-replaced passenger side diff tube seal
-swapped in cv’s with new boot kits
-swapped in rebuilt Icon’s with 700 lb King coils
    -Red Line in the diff

Couldn’t get the old cv out no matter how hard I tried when I swapped my diff in after a regear a couple years ago, just pulled off the diff tube and bolted up to new diff.

Once the axle seal started leaking I was looking for a solution.

Made a special tool from a large exhaust clamp and a foundation plate washer, after this I’ll never get under a truck and try prying again. Few whacks with a slide hammer and pop.

Yea, I'm trying to find a stock box to get rid of my volant one. Half tempted to drill some holes and silicone and screw the tube back on.
