This picture does absolutely no justice to the intensity of this trail. I did some forest service roads south of Ben Hur/north of Hector yesterday. Ended up on a trail going to "Jones Cemetary". Never found the cemetary, but found a sign for a prescribed burn area for what Forest Service calls Payne Ridge. I feel it was adequately named. Luckily I got out of there without any damage, because turning around was never an option. :burnrubber:

You'll have to take us and show us the trail. Where did you go in and come out? More details! Looks like a fun one.

Look for FS 1310 on that map. I went from the blue circle up to the yellow circle then back south.
Blue circle was pretty mild, just brush close to the trail.
Yellow circle was the climb. Large rocks to climb over and the trail is just wide enough for the truck with a large drop off to the left.
Red circle was where it got really hairy. Spotter was mandatory at that point. I've got about 2" of lift and 265/75/16 KO2s that I had to air down. Anything less and you may have some clearance issues.

We named the red circle "Cow's Face Hill" because my buddy made a comment that it was steeper than a cow's face. :rimshot:

I'm possibly planning a bachelor party trip in late September and would love to go back and camp in this area actually, but it's just a bit far away from Jonesboro. By the time most of the guys could leave, it'd be well into the dark by the time we found a spot. Not to mention, we'd need another truck given the number of us. I'd hate for someone to get in over their head, and it turn into a headache - especially at night. 2wd colorados have their place, but, you know...

So, I've thought about spending a day scouting out some of the Mark Twain NF in MO. It'd be easier to get there than the Ozarks. Has anybody been in some cool areas there or have some knowledge on the technicality? They're all outdoorsy guys, so it'd be fun to get out into the woods if we could.

I was closer to needing sliders than I wanted to be several times on that trail. I lucked out and didn't slide sideways.

Other than my softopper, sliders have been the only big addition I've made to my rig. I saw pictures one day of a guy that slid his rocker panel into a rock, and I was sold. That's a tough one to fix..

Check out Elephant Rocks and Johnson Shut In. Cool areas and plenty of dispersed camping nearby.

Depending on where you are, sometimes turning around can be sketchier than to just keep going down the track.

I have definitely had that happen. Came to a dead end once and had to turn around where there was about a 40 ft drop off. As I was backing up towards the drop off I looked in my rear view mirror to see my spotter texting on his cell phone. I don't wheel with him anymore.

In retrospect I really should have tried to back down the trail to a safe turnaround point.

Apparently $41k. Which, it has some extra stuff. SPC UCA's, Rhino Rack, Rigid lights (too many), on board air, some sort of comms, and a very space inefficient bed spare tire holder thingy. Cool lookin', but NO space. I did explain to the salesman what the sand ladders were. >.> I told him to give me the number of whoever buys it so we can go wheel. Haha!:cool: I'm sure they'll have no trouble selling it.

Yea, it's sharp, good looking truck, love that color. I looked it up on their website, and 41k is right and too rich for my blood. All its missing is bumpers, bed rack, RTT, winch, sliders and it'd be set. So for a mere additional 10k...

I'll be honest too, those pod lights on top of the rack in the corners really kills some functionality of the rack. That and some of the other stuff kinda makes me wonder about the previous life it's lived. They said he upgraded to a Tundra. Sounds a little "bro-y" to me, and it might have been beat on a bit. :facepalm:We have our fair share of the throw-away truck mentality in this town, and that makes me a touch skeptical...
