With you on that currently doing OSHA and Industrial hygiene support at my facilities... I'll probably be doing exactly what you are in a few years after this CSP thing.

 

IH will help a ton for the CSP. We had our own IH here and also used consultants alot, so when it came to those questions I had no idea what was going on. Also remember there are no OSHA questions on there since it's an international test.

Stay in safety LOL!!! I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a safety gig outside of IL, this state and this company are not my cup of tea.

I’m totally going to do something like this. Second day on the job, leave a 5lb sack of potatoes in the bathroom. They’ll never expect it to be the new guy.

 

This has to be one of my top 5 most odd places I've hung a door. I hope the put up sone kinda guard rail before they open the plant up because a hole that big, 30' up seems like a safety hazard.

 

That's a hazard is right now due to greater than 6ft... with no safety net, PFAS point or guardrail w/toeboard... it looks like.

there's a standard for edge work in general/construction safety. i'd point that out to your super if that doesn't go up.

Just another day at the office for me. Hell, don't think I've had a day where i wasn't over 6ft. Also I've never even heard of a safety net being used on any job and a guard rail can't go there because that is the main hole where all equipment is being brought in for the assy. line. Kinda defeats the purpose of the hole with a big piece of steel is in the way.

But you can relax. The area is red taped, anyone in the danger zone is harnessed off with 100% tie off, except the dumb asses in the pic. They are not with me. That is all the supervisors from the main contractor, scratching thier heads because the ordered a 17'7" door and they only built the opening to 15'. If they fall or get fined, it's on them. Just glad I dont got you standing behind me pointing out all the rules.

 

Figured there was something in place. You know every safety manager freaks out or jumps to conclusions in pictures but does not tell the whole process.

Bet @slander would say something too just going off that picture.

Which is why I'm at this company. If we tell them something is a safety issue, they get us whatever we need to resolve it. Zoom in on the pic from the ground and you can see my guy with his harness on to the left and above him and to the right you can faintly see his tie off attached to the rafters. The pic with everyone stranding around also shows his tie off up top. We have an 8 hr class going over all saftey procedures and expectations before your even allowed on sight. Everyone else around knows the rules and chose not to follow them. That's on them. It's not like they didn't have fall protection avalible.

 

We work off an aluminum multi-task ladder all the time. The internal safety coordinator and maintenance manager are always letting us know it isn't OSHA kosher.

I also don't wear steel toes or safety glasses in the shop.

Wore shorts a few days last week. One day, gashed my knee open because a wall-mount 3-U rack fell out of one of my supply cabinets. Ain't care.

 

We aren't allowed to have a can of Raid for bugs in one of the bathrooms because active ingredients aren't in our site chemical registry.
