If I was going through the trouble of an engine swap, I wouldn’t do the 5VZ.

I’m just waiting for that 1998 Supra with Cali Emissions with the 2JZ-GTE to pop up on Copart.

The 2JZ was already mated to the A340E so in theory it should bolt right up to the A340F.

It will never make it to Copart. Even completely wrecked, unrecognizable it is worth more rebuilt that it could hope to get on Copart.

I saw a 1998 Cali spec Supra on Copart. But it was Manual and I didn’t have the money at the time. It sold for $6k.

Damn, a manual made it? That's the one one to have, was it just not turbo or something

I’m after the Twin Turbocharged version, the GTE found in the Supra. 1998 was the last year the Supra was sold in the United States therefore there would be a California spec emissions version.

    Nope. 2JZ-GTE Twin Turbo.

I wasn’t that interested since I wanted to retain the Automatic since it would be easier to mate to my A340F.

Still gonna be a pain, ideally you keep the Supra trans, auto I wouldn't even bother doing the swap. Would be okay in the car but still much less fun than the manual, in a truck I don't even think it would be worth it.

I wouldn’t mind having a manual, the issue here being mating it to a transfer case. I thought mating the A340F would be simple since the bellhousing between the E and the F would be the same.

It still has a 2J bellhousing so you'd have to swap all of that and the electronics are likely a bit different and of course the A340 in the supra has a better clutchpack for the higher power. No swap is easy, there are a couple W series trans and R series you can make 4wd though.

Same goes for other engine swaps like the LS. You’d still have to find a way to mate the transfer case up and I noticed most people just use the transmission that the engine came with and using for example an Atlas t-case.

Really the engine swap I want to do is do a diesel D4D swap since it already came with an A340F on the Prado and Hilux. But I could never get that legal since it was never sold in the US.

Still a different A340, you can ask @anothernord about that, there were a few things he was fighting. You're better off just preparing for everything to require major work to swap.

Also only 1800mi... too bad it is a 2.4

That's big work haha, especially for a manual because they never came with one.

Yeah Mark's does it, I think you can actually mount a W series to it too but it isn't quite strong enough.

This is a fantastically designed manifold to get away from the OEM twins on the 2J, never seen such a strong looking long runner turbo mani before. Wish they made one like this for the 1FZ or 3RZ

I could just collect the whole set, these look much stronger than runner style ones.
