TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Thanks everybody. I’ll call gadget tomorrow, you can’t add it to your cart so it’s probably on back order still. I’m going to check around and call other places. John, I’ll grab a urd 160 degree conversion kit since they have it in stock. I think I like the fj cruiser version just to have the probable extra capacity and do the mod needed to install it.

 

This is why for a T4 inlet, a 2.25" merge into 3" is best.

 

Trying to figure out some stuff to do this winter while the truck is in the garage for about 5 months. I’m going to try to port match the supercharger with the 76mm throttle body adapter. Maybe gasket match the lower intake plenum as well. Looking to try to get a little extra here and there with out dumping tons of money. Anyone else got any other options?

Everyone here is always all about go fast mods, but we also gotta stop!

Parts can be had for cheaper if you get calipers from somewhere like NAPA, but me personally I like to use OEM parts.

Edit: I forgot to mention, you will more than likely need 17” wheels for this to work. The 4runner these came off of come with 17” wheels.

 

Brakes are very important. Mine suck. I'm going bbk as soon as my exhaust is on. Big wheels and lift get spooky trying to stop.

 

I was hoping for more labor intensive power gains then $$ lol. I’m still debating on getting a killer chiller, meth kit, or get an ice tank for the bed and figure run some hoses back to it.

 

Yup agree’d. I spent $845 after tax, minus brake fluid. Much cheaper than a $2k BBK, and easily sourced rotors/pads. I thought about converting the rear to discs, but then you have to swap out the master. A lot of work involved with doing so that I do not care to do. Also $$$

I’ve been running EBC Stage 5 ever since I put 35’s on and have been very pleased

 

I'll have to look look into that option.

 

Planning to do this eventually.

 

You can also do some mild porting to the lower intake manifold where it makes to the heads. I dont have pics of mine but I may take some soon since I'm going to be doing it on someone else's truck.
