Good to know, it might be a problem then for the early tacoma hoods then, I have the 18” core Champion and works great but at idle it heats up just a little, goes down immediately once you raise rpms, so I would prefer the 22” core if I could get it to fit.

 

is this a pulled t4r radiator from a 3rd gen?

 

I never had over heating issues with the factory radiator and it's pack half way full of mud.

 

No it's a champion radiator that they say is for the tacoma but clearly it's not going to clear the hood on the earlier tacomas

@COMAtized99 says it will NOT fit the early Tacoma hood, it hits the hood cross support.
I guess the only way to make it work would be to change the mountings bracket for the radiator and shroud by an inch or so, I’m guessing, glad it worked for the newer hood for you

 

I also spaced the radiator closer to the fan by about 3/8". I'm guessing that helped too the bottom of the radiator sits a little higher than factory radiator so you could easily drop it down of you needed I would just get new nut certs for the radiator

 

If you wanted, you could probably use a BFH and make room on the hood support.. just be careful not to dent the top of the hood.

 

To go just a little farther, I believe you would not have an issue on the 01-04 taco hood. They have the raised center section

Yes possible, looks like you have auto shroud and with this radiator will have to change the skid plate too, if you lower the radiator the shroud brackets will need to be changed too as the fan will hit the shroud if you don’t. I guess I’m good with the smaller champion radiator, it was 97 yesterday and my
temp stayed at 188 all day

 

I have a supercharged v6 and I'm pushing some big tires . Never had my truck over heat and when I pulled the factory radiator it was half clogged with mud. I will post pics of it later.

I like the fact that your neighbors have normal concrete driveways but since you have offroad vehicles, you have them parked on gravel at home.

 

I would have concrete too but it's expensive and I prefer to dump money into the trucks and drinking instead . Oh I got a kid too so that doesn't help the drive way situation any either.
