Holy Shit! I just finished changing my oil and went inside to wash my hands. I got done and walked back out to start my truck and check the oil level.

It cranked and all the sudden it started knocking, really loud and getting louder! So many thoughts went through my mind during what seemed liked 5min, although it was only 5-8sec at most. I was thinking a rag was getting chewed up by the fan because fur was shooting up out of the engine bay (I didn't know it was fur)... I'm thinking HOLY SHIT!:eek::eek:

I quickly turned off the truck and my cat came flying out of the engine!!!

She ran into the woods and I haven't seen her since.

There's fur everywhere, and one drop of blood on the side of the truck where she jumped off.

It happened to my grandma when I was visiting Chicago, borrowed her car on Saturday night and left the car in the driveway. When she woke up a few hours later to go to Church, some animal had crawled up into the engine bay to stay warm.... Lets just say the animal was no more, and a couple hundred dollars of damage to her car...

Lol my dads old 86 chevy has claimed many a cat. They loved sleeping in the fan shroud in the winter.

Hope your cat is okay. At least these trucks have clutch fans, so the cat has a chance of being just bruised up.

    secret stuff.
Man that sucks. The same exact thing happened to an me when I went to go hop in an old girlfriends Jeep. I had to end up breaking the cats neck myself because it was suffering so bad and I unfortunately had no pistol. The poor thing was so busted up, had blood coming out of it's ears, mouth, and nose.

I've heard about rats nesting in an engine, never considered the housecat. I'm redoubling my garage cleaning efforts so I can get the thing parked inside now, if my truck ended up eating the cat I would probably be sleeping on the couch for the rest of my life.

my old job working in an auto shop i had found 3 cats dead on top of skid plates. they climb in during the winter with a warm engine then the owner starts the vehicle and knocks it out with the fan...surprised yours survived. personally i would be more worried about any damage to my engine or fan than the cat.

If that happened to my cat, the last thing I would worry about is my truck being messed up.

I'm pretty sure your cat will be OK. Probably has learned a major life lesson. Here in rural NJ I get snakes loving up the warm areas on the engine when the sun goes down, Man those garter snakes stink too. Have had racoons, opossums and a skink think they found a new home there in the wife's Civic. If you visit some one who has goats, CHECK your break lines, they must be candy to them.
