can't remember the last time I replaced u-joints.. I didn't think it was too long ago but these ones are notchy and are making crunching noises.. Didn't think I neglected them this bad.. gonna be replacing those as well.. Also the slip joint has some play to it, I guess I'll pull it apart and pump some grease in.. If I get brave enough I may put a grease fitting on it.

 

This shaft gonna feel like brand new..

 

This driveshaft is done.. New Spicer u-joints, IEDLS poly Ford carrier bearing, and fresh grease. I even managed to get all the grease zerks all on the same lobe for easy greasing. I'll take that plate off and paint it tomorrow.. Holiday plans...whiz bang...

New dangle angle(i zeroed the level and kept getting different readings):
(Angle A)Tcase to forward: 1.6 or 2. 2*
(Angle B)Forward to rear: 8.5 or 6.5*
(Angle C)Rear to pinion: 6.8*

 

So I'm a little confused as the Thread for the IEDLS CB is not 100% clear. Can we just order these whenever now or are they still doing a 20 order basis?

 

There's cheaper ones.

 

But is that one urethane like the iedls? Don't really see a good description other than it's like a HD version

 

Drove to the in-laws yesterday.. No more violent shaking when I come to a stop anymore! Though there is a low, knobby tire type, vibration when I am accelerating at about 15mph. I'm thinking axle wrap is making the rear u-joint angles unmatched during acceleration.

Can't remember what I was reading but I believe for my LC 12K was the sweet spot, anything over that was pointless but was more significant function than 5K or 8K. That's what is in mine now, sounds like a jet engine when that fan cuts on lol couple with changing what temp it comes on as well

 

Apparently things never stop needing to be fixed.. Looks like a front passenger axle seal now.

Eh it's just weeping it'll be fine. My rack is still leaking I need to replace that.

Just finished the trans cooler install mod1 saw 20°+ drop in temps depending on load and driving style. Pretty impressive.

 

At this age and mileage in the trucks life, you will go crazy trying to keep it like new. It’s not really leaking all that bad.

 

The seal is $0.89 plus $2.99 shipping lol. This thing is a spring chicken compared to my Land Rover. I'm ok with fixing a leaky seal, I was just surprised to see the oil spill on the driveway.

 

Shit the way you keep up with that thing I bet it'll be at Toyota headquarters as the Tacoma with the most miles.

 

Lol thanks. After reading... It could be more than a leaky seal.. I need to add up all the things wrong with that front corner and see what they all point to. Stay tuned.

 

What did you read that leads you to believe it could be more. I mean a worn bushing/bearing that the axle stub rides on could be an issue. You have my curiosity now though.

My front passenger tire was worn all choppy when I took it off.. I don't recall if it was like that when I put it on... I checked for play in the bearing and ball-joints.. Will check into that more today.
