I’ve had this happen and the rider got all pissy because I didn’t see him flying up on the right in a 30mph zone. I was making a right and he was passing cars between the shoulder and lane.

Sorry didn’t expect a 50mph vehicle to be zooming up the shoulder.

The doppler effect negates this to a degree. They do help though. I know when I'm in my truck during lane splitting situations I can hear a louder bike much better than a quiet one as long as they're not lane splitting super fast. If they're coming up fast the loud pipes will make very little differance.

That's pretty cool about the wedding.

And who cares what kind of bike you're riding as long as your out there having fun and being safe and not a douche bag.

Yeah man, before I got hit I was riding a thousand miles a month on average. You can’t ride like a douche bag and hope to survive for long with that much time on the bike.
I was doing everything right and still got it.

Ha...last night on the lower deck of the bridge this bike with no loud pipes came flying upto my right side. Didn’t see him until he was right up against my quarter panels. Scooched over a tad and he threw up the deuces.

I’ve been saying this for years... also, vehicles have much more sound deadening nowadays. I’ve had the stereo going and not heard a bike with aftermarket pipes till it’s right next to me; splitting lanes at an unsafe speed... I always hug the left line to give them the extra space. I just wish they wouldn’t split lanes at such an unsafe rate of speed vs the slower general traffic.

Harley’s get away with the useless noise because it’s an ‘Merican Icon...

Please, I’d love to be an asshole and drive around with open exhaust in my MR2(for about 5 minutes before oldmanitus takes over). But, I’d get pulled over before I make it two blocks down the street.

Neighbor across the street has an early C3 Corvette big block with side pipes. He's not a douche bag, but admits to having douche bag tendencies. Even so, he realizes that fucker is LOUD and avoids lighting it off in the neighborhood when people are sleeping.

Exactly. Everyone has the douchey moment when we revert back to an 8 year boy who wants to bang shit together and make a ton of noise. But knowingly doing the douche move daily just makes you a doiche, not a temporary prepubescent boy that wants to make a little noise and throw a little dirt.

Seems I’ve started something. With that being said, pretty much all my friends rides some kind of motorcycle, if not in the past.

I’ll admit when I got my exhaust made on the Lexus I hammered the throttle a few times, then got bored. This trend will continue after I get my headers on.

Has any of y’all that run softtoppers been through touchless car washes? Need to wash my truck but I don’t have time to hand wash it. Don’t want the water pressure possibly tear the canvas either.

I generally don't take things to seriously on here, but for some reason that statement struck a chord with me. I don't believe that anyone likes to be categorized into a specific stereotype for the things they own and enjoy. I often split lanes on my way to work, but not at a ridiculous rate of speed. I usually even put my hazards on and throw a deuce to those who kindly move over for me. I do apologize if my rant came off a little harsh. Probably not the best analogy given the ethnic diversity of the community. Carry on.

    ...too much shit to list.
Like all things, there are good and bad versions of every kind of rider and driver.

Best rider in the world isn’t good enough to avoid a driver who had a momentary lapse in attention and only on the lookout for a 3500+ lb vehicle rather than a 350 lb bike.

    Some really cool shit
Coming back from Truckee a couple weeks ago in the Taco, I was slowly sliding into the slow lane when out of nowhere, there was a bike right next to me on the right. Now, I've been a motorcycle rider, and a high end street bicycle rider for over 40 years, so I consider myself a very alert motorist when it comes to looking out for riders. I'm a very cautious driver, and always looking for the out in emergency situations. I always play the what if game. I've been trained for auto racing at Sears Point, and military convoy training at Ft Knox, so I like to believe I'm always on point, but this dude just appeared. I can only guess that since he didn't give me the one finger salute he was riding a bit aggressively. But he gave me a scare.

It’s cool to see the passion behind your hobby though. I respect that. I’d probably throw some feathers too if someone trashed something like fishing on here. Lol.

Wasn’t my intention at all to damper the moods of some on here with my earlier statements. There are douchebags on anything/everything.... we all can agree on that. My apologies!
