How are the NA MK3 5Mt Supra to drive? Do they have HG issues too?

 

All 7Ms do, they need a retorque pretty much no matter what.

Yeah you're better off ripping out the HG and throwing in the ARP studs then torquing them down to ~70-75 ft-lbs. Then you shouldn't have an issue again The PO had already done that so I hopefully won't have any issue.

Torque specs on the ARP studs is 90ftlbs. I was just looking at the instructions last night. Finally putting my 7M on the stand back together

 

I already have a large I6 vehicle but for some reason I really like the way they deliver power, one of these could be fun when I have time to build an engine.

Nice! I've got a silver 87 N/A Supra, with 90k miles. I'll try and add a picture this weekend when I'm not on mobile. They are definitely cool cars. You can tell they were Toyotas flagship car back in the day. Supramania is an awesome resource.

Yes, all the 7m motors do. I'm pretty sure mine needs a HG and I haven't had the time to mess with it so it's been sitting unfortunately. The NA ones aren't fast, but they're still fun to drive, the motor is smooth and sounds good. Plus Mk3s are pretty rare now. I almost never see them. I think I've seen one other than mine in the last 6 months to a year.

 

Until I started looking I only saw them at car shows but didn't realize they were Supras yet. Then of course the final day I'm at my parents (went down to FL to buy it and drive it back) I see another one driving around. Stopped and chatted a bit, got to look at a 1JZ in person which was cool to see my final vision for this car in person.

And I started to touch up the emblems on the back to match the “turbo” one

The dash mat looks good and seems like it fits well. Was your dash cracked or just trying to prevent it? It's a common problem. Mine has a couple tiny splits near the defroster vents but nothing you can see without looking real hard.

 

It was cracked. The guy I met in Florida said to look up Dashmat as they fit very well. So that's one of the first things I got. Looks better since the ugly crack is now gone

 

Restoring the interior has been one of the harder things for me to do. Just not many replacement pieces in better condition than what I'm trying to replace. Another good way to spruce up the interior is upgrading the climate controls with LED. Here's mine

 

Oh damnit! Why'd you show me that? I'm going to start having to do that now! I'll have to break it open and look into it more, that looks really freaking awesome

 

Its actually pretty easy if you're slightly skilled with a soldering iron. Just desolder the old ones out and put in the new ones. I think I have some extra buttons/boards if you need to replace anything on it.
