Starting to love this color, the paint holds up great. Looks fresh after a quarter million miles, can't say the same about my black 4runner.

I’ve got a 02 double cab in lunar mist.
It’s 4wd but I’d like to know what mods would be good to start off on.
This is also my first post on TW:mudding:

Welcome! Well the first question is what do you plan on doing with your rig? From there we will go from armor to lift kits, to locker/re-gearing etc.

I’d like some off road capability while also keeping it streetable as I’m often on the highway. Considering as this is a 16 year old vehicle, I don’t want to put an excessive amount of money into it. Any tips are welcome!

I looked into lifts, and many sites differed. The 6 in. Looked so nice, but the 3 in. Would be more functional. This is my daily driver and because it has the TRD Off road I have the rear locker and skid plates. Let me know what some starter mods would be :taco:

There are a ton of options that very in price. Have you done much off road with it as is?

Practically none as when I got first bought it I wanted to prevent scratches, etc. gas tank had evaporative leak so swapped it out and fixed some other check engine light issues. Should be solid and fixed up for a nice build that I can still use as a daily.

Rear locker is a good start if it doesn't have one. Otherwise my best advice is start with armor. Sliders, skids, maybe bumpers before doing a lift. Keep any lift under 3" in the front. Where are you located?

I'd start with an aftermarket skid and sliders. Go out and use your truck then get a reasonable lift (i.e OME all around with an AAL in the rear) then get bigger tires (285 or 33s) then get a rear bumper followed up by a front bumper and winch if needed. Just my opinion on how things should go.
