3rd Gen Quicksand thread

Awesome truck and welcome to TW! Good to have another Quicksand brethren....

 

Are you running a lift? I’ve been thinking about going the 4Runner TRD Pro wheel route but I would need new tires as well. Yours looks great and going with the Tacoma TRD Pro wheels would allow me to get tires later.

 

Nice rig! Absolutely loving this look.

What is max load for the shell? Is it necessary to brace the shell from inside when installing a RTT that will see the weight of 2 full sized humans plus the RTT, sleeping gear and luggage? How is this holding up for you and others with a similar setup over time?

Yes I’m running a 2nd gen TRD Pro kit(discontinued) and a 3 leaf AAL in the rear as well.... nets about 2”in of lift front and back and I can fit the 285’s.

From what I’ve read I think the 4runner Pro wheels will stick out about 1/2” further than the Tacoma Pro for a wider stance which is nice if you want the wider look. I actually bought a set of “like new” black T4R Pros for $300 but the wife wanted them for her T4R...lost that battle haha

Aren't the T4R Pros more of a matte black while the Tacoma Pros are glossy?

Truck has come a long way in one year on a limited budget. Been picking up parts used or during sale events here and there. Love having the cap and the new 255/85r16 ST Maxx have made a huge difference on the trail over the stock Wrangler ATs. Recently just finished a platform/drawer system for the back, custom built using Baltic birch and dimensional lumber. Almost wishing I waited on the GFC camper/tent to come out instead of going with the cap, but the set up is pretty modular for now. Hoping to gear up a bit more and do a long run through Eastern Canada at the end of the summer, potentially up to James Bay or out to St Johns.
