Strange in both cases. I would think the hitch would definitely be included in a frame swap simply so they don't have to dick around trying to get it off if it's bolted on.

If you plan on towing, you should choose the V6 Tow Package. It includes a class IV receiver hitch with the trailer wiring but most importantly it includes a transmission cooler, engine oil cooler, 130 ampalternator and heavy duty battery. With the tow package, the Tacoma can tow as much as 6,500 pounds.

I figured the models without the tow package still came with a receiver hitch welded in place but was just a class III ?????????

 

I know mostly two dealerships did most of the frame swaps 'round these parts. Some guys got there's swapped, some didn't but there seems like there's no consistency.

 

I added a Curt Class IV hitch and trans cooler and trailer brake controller.

Yea, I wish I could say I never hardly hear the term "frame swap" on here but that is definitely not the case. Shame some guys have to fight to get it done. I could see losing the battle if you used your truck as a submarine. Using it as a truck though and having a hard time is just lame!

I rarely tow but when I do I wanted to be sure I could max it out. I made sure mine had the tow package when I bought it. I have yet to install my P3 though. I'm going to put it in that little cubby to the left of the steering wheel. There is a adapter plate for the 3rd gens. When I had it in my Tundra and 4RT I just had that heavy duty velcro on the dash by my knee. Worked great.

 

What brake controller you using?

I'm looking at a Tekonsha P3.

 

I've got the P3, nothing much to say about it other than, it works.

That’s all the things I’m seeing too and that it’s highly recommended as one of not the best. Need to get one for a upcoming camping trip.

 

Yea, as @BadDNA said, it just works. That's what matters the most with this type of device.

 

Yup, spend 10-15 minutes setting it up and never worry about it after that.

New KYB Top Hat Assembly/Kits arrived today. Seem well constructed & rugged. I like how the lower bushing is integrated with the top hat. Getting the front's installed (.85" setting) in a couple of weeks. Everything seems to fit together nicely.

I found my brake controller bracket almost falling off the other week. Ow being held in place with zip ties lol. Going to build a new bracket for or relocate in the fall. To hot to work outside unless I have too lol.
