Awesome! You always seem to be ahead of the game. Now that you are back in the states, do you have any idea on when 1.05 will be released?

No ETA yet. Now that Toyota has a new TSB out to fix another drivetrain problem, this means more development time to implement this fix into tunes. I know toyotas TSB says only certain trucks are affected... Not sure how that makes sense considering nearly everyone has the same ECU Version...

@OVTune Any more thoughts on the tune including the ability to do what the hypertech does? I know it was mentioned awhile ago as a possibility.

I have all the CAN data to do it, but not finished developing a software to implement it. The CAN data I have and method is for a permanent fix though, OEM programming. It's being worked on but with everything else on the table it's going to be a while.

    Magnuson hears you :).
Oh and that guy getting one installed for $7500, it's BS.

meaning, all trucks are affected but only "certain truck owners" will complain. will be interested to see what you find in the new file though - most interested to see if they made any other changes to this calibration. That surge is already dampened quite a bit w/ the tune imo so it's not a massive issue but if it does smooth things out further while integrating with the next batch of files, good news for all of us!

If I get my registration and quickly turn around my ECU info, any chance of getting the tune back before the weekend?

@OVTune, Back story..... So I recently had the 25k service done to my Taco and found out that the dealership who did the 20k service (the south Marin County dealership) put 9 quarts of oil in the engine!!! That being said, the other service manager wanted to run some tests on the engine to see if there was any damage done due to the overage of oil. Luckily there was no damage.

Prior to having the truck checked out, I flashed back to stock ECU and TCU just to be sure there weren’t any issues with the warranty. The service tech updated the TCU.

My question is, when I flash the ECU back to 1.04, should I keep the new Toyota TCU update or go back to your TCU flash? I’ll definitely save the new Toyota TCU update to my computer. Thanks.

Good question, to which I have no answer.

Please let us know what you learn, and what you do regarding the TCU and reflashing.

How do you know he updated the TCU? Can you see the update in techstream or your scanner? Seems odd for them to just update the TCU - particularly since the new TSB is for surging which I would think would be an ECU function but I'm about as far from and expert as one could get.

They told me that they had done it and it was on the printout I got when I picked up the truck. I had mentioned something about the mushy feeling of the tranny many months back prior to getting the OVTune. The service guy noted that I had the first update but not the most recent one, so they updated to the most recent version. Talk about customer service! Getting work done without even having to ask for it.

Heck yeah... if you have a scanner/carista/etc., run it to see what the calibration ID is so we can bounce it against what's in the TSB if ya can! That is service!

If they flash the TCU they'll also have to flash the ecu... Have fun on that stock tune

Got 1.04 about a month ago -- per Mat if you have an Auto - ignore the TCU flash because it does not exist. Wait for 1.05 if you want the TCU flash.

They are referring to a new TSB that was released this week that flashes the truck to allegedly resolve surges that occur from 40-50mph in 4-5th gears

Nice that the dealer would do this without apparently having the owner bring up the issues related specifically to the just released TSB. I'd like to see the service order to confirm - just to be sure they did what they say they did. Not that a dealer would ever mislead someone. ?? so how do you reflash the TCU in 1.04 when Mat says to ignore because it does not exist?

Funny, never saw someone getting it installed. Just quoted what was said while at Magnuson. Roughly $6k for the kit and about $1500 in labor, release was also supposedly September. But what did you find out since that was BS?:)
