I had a local shop do my suspension install and everything seemed great so I decided to throw on some new wheels and tires. I had this done at a different shop, and when the mechanic was working on my truck he said the suspension was not installed correctly. So I took a look and the 3 AAL does not look correct. They are off center of the axle, the passenger side looks like it is positioned further forward than it should be and the driver side looks like it is further back. The other possible issue is the add a leaf is not touching the stock leafs on the back passenger side and the front driver side. I'm assuming this isnt correct? Pictures of the passenger side:

It’s kinda hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like they just added the AAL the the bottom of the pack. It’s supposed to go in between the 3 upper leafs and the bottom overload leaf.

Theres a pilot hole so they cant really be installed off center. Looks like they installed them out of order, the leaf above the AAL needs to be moved down.

Ya, I just watched some youtube videos and that seems to be how its done. It looks like most overload leafs are curved the other way on the bottom? no?

Definitely out of order but isn't there more than one hole?

Yeah it’s pretty much flat, maybe a tiny backwards bend? I’m not sure.

No, there’s one hole that holds all leafs together. The bottom of this pin also rests in the axle and that’s what centers it

It looks like they removed the factory overload and then put the 3leaf AAL in the wrong order. Smallest leaf goes on the bottom, then medium, then longest. Only one center pin hole but they can be installed backwards since they aren’t equal length on the front and rear ends.

    Gotcha, thanks!

Oh that makes sense, wow... what the hell were they thinking

Edit: Isn't the forth one down the factory overload though?

So it’s not a question of whether or not it’s wrong, just how exactly it’s wrong. I would go back to the installer and have them fix it.

It kinda looks like they threw the overload in between the aal and the 3 original leaves?

All newer Tacoma’s have 3+1. And yeah I was thinking the same thing. They just added the AAL below the overload and called it good.

Well all I can add is it looks like a Jiffy Lube or Grease Monkey install job! NEVER us either one of these to work on your vehicle - not even to check the air. No GED required.

Looks like they may have at least one of them reversed too. Longer end goes to the back. This can be confusing as some leaf packs require the bracket that holds the 3 factory leafs together to be ground off. Original (bottom most) overload leaf can either be removed (recommended) or it goes underneath the 3-leaf.

    When in doubt RTFM:
