Newbie: Needing Help With Lift Recommendation

So the dreaded squeak!! That is something that I'm not real excited for. What is the fix for this? Does it make more sense to go with a progressive AAL? I really don't want a squeak. But I do like the specs of the Dakar leaf pack.

 

the performance of a Dakar makes it worth it.

There is supposedly a TSB from OME that addresses it, basically just isolator pads to stop the squeak.
Its annoying yes but if you clean them its fine. The were noisy as fuck after the winter for me since I wasn't able to really wash them out. and they're noisey now because I went off road.


Best way to clean them from what I've found is droop suspension and pressure wash them clean. Its just all the muck in them etc makes the squeak. I've been told once they get a little rusky etc they shut up though.

 

Thanks!! I will still plan to go with those! Did you go with the heavy duty or medium duty? And about how much lift did you get in the rear from them? I'd love to know what setup you did all around and what kind of lift/performance you got from this setup.

 

It's all in my build thread in my signature, with all I've done I'm still not where I want to be but I have problems haha.

I have the medium duty ones .I don't carry enough weight to need the heavy duty ones.
There's more going into my truck tomorrow

And I got roughly 2.75 inches of lift maybe more .Didn't do measurements before but

 

1k on the functioning parts and 3k on the pretty boy parts?

 

Honestly there’s nothing wrong with spacer lifts if you do it properly....

Just make sure you buy proper length shocks in the rear and space your bump stops in the front and you won’t have any issues.

They do limit upward travel a bit...so I wouldn’t recommend them for serious off roading...but for light wheeling they’ll be fine.

Plus they use most of the factory suspension parts..... so if you need new springs, or struts or whatever.... and can find it at any auto parts store, rather than from one vendor

 

Ok all of the info has helped. Sounds like I may be ok with just a leveling kit to get 3in or so. But, RC also has a 4in suspension kit, and was going to change out the shocks in the rear to Bilstein. Thoughts?

What parts setup would you recommend with the Bilsteins?

 

Sounds like something similar that was listed on the picture of the truck I posted. I would like a similar setup as the picture. Just to give it a better appearance but still have the off-road performance, but not needing anything crazy for intense off-roading. He listed Maxtrac 4" spindle, Fox Shocks, OME Dakar Leaf Springs.)

5100 all around is cheapest.
There is a better one but forget the numbers think it's 6120 or something like that. But the 5100 are best bang for buck

What about my original post. Forgive me, still learning everything. But what about his setup listed. Whats the quality on the parts and the idea behind the set up? Seems more expensive that way.

Just a heads up, as far as I know the Maxtrac spindles are PreRunner specific.

 

Depends which fox he has regardless would be more.
Spindle makes me think he's 2wd not 4wd.

For what it's worth I have fox and dakars .If you look in my build thread you'll see what I have but it's definitely not in the price range you mentioned lol.

And yes the billies have adjustment notches

The thing about "what lift should I do" threads is, you will get 500 different opinions. Know exactly what you NEED and go from there.

 

Also, going up one tire size (from 65 to 70, or 70 to 75 depending on your wheel size) will also give you more ground clearance. There is a lot to be said for just going up one tire size (I gained an inch of clearance just from that)
