Would you buy/trust a new '17 for 35k

I found a '17 TRD Sport for around 35-36k, fully loaded with JBL and sunroof. The original sticker says over 42. Would you buy the 3rd gen again if you were in the market?

This forum leads me to believe that the 3rd gen is a problem prone vehicle with poor quality control. It feels weaker than I would like, but I do like the options. I am just not sold on it being a good truck and am leaning heavily towards spending the same amount on a CPO Lexus. I just like the versatility and that KBB says I'll only loose ~8k to depretiation over 4 years!

I’d buy my truck again with no hesitation. Car forums on the internet are places where like minded people get together to complain...

Got my '18 for cheaper than that. But, if you're questioning the Toyota, Drive it for yourself, do your research and make an educated decision on your new vehicle.
On this forum, yes you're gonna read a lot of complaining. I do enjoy mine and don't have any complaints because I was aware of any pros or cons the taco has. But that doesn't mean the one you're looking at isn't a lemon.

Yes. But I’d also seriously consider a diesel Colorado. My friend has one and it’s badass.

In July of 2017 I paid 39k flat for my 4x4 sport dcsb. Jbl, sunroof, sensor stuff a free TRD pro grill from HB Toyota. The truck has had its minor hiccups, but nothing that would change my mind. I’ve spent tons of money to finish it off to how I want it, and every time I walk away.... I always look back at it hahahaha

It will have warranty, it seems the few issues you read about on here happen well within the warranty period. Also, remember, what you read here does not represent the real world numbers. You have some members that create a profile just because they have an issue and are looking for an answer, you also have some who do nothing but complain and would probably find fault if a super model got naked in front of them and said do what you want.
    So, with that said.:spending:

How many miles are on it? Reason I ask is you don't want a truck that's been test driven by everyone and you don't want a truck that was loaned out by the dealership for warranty repairs.

Mine has had some minor problems and the dealer fixed all of them.

I would absolutely do it all over again.

That seems high even with all the options. i got my AC tacoma SR5 in2012 for 28k OTD.
Price range on a new tundra s 39K-42K new. for SR5 crewmax Sports.
There is alot of gripe about the 3rd gens but they are still a good solid truck.
If you plan on towing 5K often and comfortably, get a full size. The trucks can do it, but it is not enjoyable. just my 2 cents good luck:thumbsup:

You didn’t clarify if it’s new or used. Either way, you can get it cheaper. If it’s new, it’s a 17 and should be able to negotiate big time. If it’s a used 17, you should really be able to get that price down because it’s used for sure. My 17 isn’t fully loaded but it’s an OR and I got it for 32,500.

PS for reference the Pros are near the sticker price you gave us. Don’t do it unless you can get the price down. Reliability shouldn’t even be a worry. All vehicles have anomalies.

I bought my 2017 Off Road in April 2017, brand spanking new. As of today, it has just shy of 21,000 miles, with absolutely zero issues.

I had a 16 z71 diesel Colorado crew 4x4. Put 55k miles on it in 2 years and it is a good truck. Had a few issues under warranty all with emissions. I looked hard at a new zr2 in diesel and Tacoma off road dbl cab. Then I wanted something different and was getting the off road but saw a new pro in Calvary and I just really likes the color and it was something different. I have had no issues with it in 3 months and over 6k miles.

You just missed a recent poll here. Over 300 voted and 96% love their truck. 75% reported absolutely no issues. 21% reported minor issues but still love it. Only 4% reported disappointment, and that's on a forum! In real life I expect that 4% to fo to less than 2%.

MT though? Makes a solid 1.5-2k in price difference at least. I agree though he may be able to haggle it more

No offense, but I am so tired of reading these types of comments. Any forum out there will always have more negatives than positives. I'm willing to bet that probably 90% of tacoma owners never post a word on a forum or have any issues with their truck. I personally think the people that complain the most about this truck are either under the impression that they purchased a sports car and/or they really regret buying the truck cause they can't afford it. Either way this is an amazing vehicle that will outlast anything on the road.

I paid about 37k new for a 16 with 6 miles (in 2016) and have 0 complaints. 10/10 would buy again.
