Really? I always assumed that all 4x4 were 6 lug, 4x2 prerunners were 6 lug, and 4x2 base were 5 lug

 

I know where 2 of them sit right now.

 

But yes, at least all 3rd gens are 6 lugs. Makes buying an SR that much more fun, we get to do all the same suspension mods and wheels as the other trim levels (for a much lower initial investment :-D )

 

Cool! I know what happens when we assume... What year(s) are they?

 

@WileECoyote @4x4Banger can better attest to the years. They are the owners. One is a first gen, the other is a second gen and they did make a 3rd gen but have discontinued it for the 18's

Both seem to suggest all 5 lugs are 4x2, at least from the factory.

And I'm 99.9% sure no 3rd gens were ever 5 lug. They did discontinue the 4 cylinder 4x4 5 speed manual for 2018, I know this because my truck is a 2017 of that configuration.

That "I" know of, what is highlighted in red is correct. They got rid of the 4x4 5spd manual for 2018 (NOTE: I remember reading a thread on here, TW, and people were expressing their frustrations with Toyota's decision). The 5 lugs were the 2.4L 4x2 and the 2.7L 4x4 and 4x2 were 6 lug. Not 100% sure, but I don't think 2.4L trucks were ever made with 4x4 capability? Plus, if anyone cares, the 4x4 had an option of 15x6 or 15x7 wheel sizes and depended mainly on what tire "configuration" you wanted to get, but yet it would still be 4x4 and/or 4x2 now that I think about it. Anyways, for example, the original owner of my truck (me being the 2nd owner), bought the vehicle with the 15x6 wheels and P225/75/R15 (stock/basic configuration). All of the 5 lug 2.4's were 14in wheels... again, that "I" know of? I'd be surprised to hear/see otherwise, because that's all I personally have ever seen anyways. That's not saying that there isn't some weird configuration, but to think that a 5 lug 4x4 2.4L existed would, to me at least, would be a fairly weird configuration to even have. Just my humble opinion on the matter regarding the last statement.

One last thing to note, if I remember correctly, '95-98 had the same/similar chassis, meaning that you could easily convert your 4x2 into a 4x4 because the chassis had the cross-member up front where the transfer case goes as well as a few other things that the 4x4 trucks had. Any of the years after that and you had to, more or less, configure/weld what needed to be in place in order to easily convert your 4x2 into a 4x4 truck. Other than that, I believe the '95-98 chassis were all 4x4 capable, which of course, mine is a '98 and 4WD. But again, only the trucks that had the 2.7-3.4L engines.

That is all I really know and hope I somewhat answered the question... correctly???

 

I've worked on Toyota's since 2004 and have never seen a 4x4 5 lug.,

Every 5 lug I've ever worked on is axle over spring. Meaning small mini-truck taquito's.

2016 was the death of the 5 lug.

 

One quick side note to all that I had just posted, I DO NOT know, for the life of me, what/which had TRD, SR5, Sport, blah blah blah because there are just too many options/packages for me to even think about???

Besides, I'd just rather save what money I can and "upgrade" the truck myself... typically cheaper and with what EXACTLY "I" want on it and NOT some marked-up BS "package deal"!!!

 

Yeah, I've personally never heard of a 4x4 5 lug??? Would be kinda cool to see though, but I can tell you that the engine would be a bit too small, in my humble opinion. Hell, even the 2.7L is a bit small, in my humble opinion. BUT, I still LOVE my 2.7L that's for sure.

Yup, I've never seen or heard of 4x4 5 lug Toyota trucks, definitely not for Tacomas. Even pre-tacos were 6 lug for 4x4 but I'm not a Toyota truck expert.

I dropped my truck off on Tuesday afternoon and get it back today. My free loaner from the dealer is a 2018 Camry LE, and I had the car for probably 15 hours before I realized it lacked a CD player! Not that I listen to CDs that much anymore, but what gives?!?!

3rd gens have a CD player, never used mine, but I think you answered your own question by saying you don't listen to CD's anymore lol. Neither does anyone else.

 

When I replaced the stereo in my truck, I paid an extra $30 or so to get an aftermarket HU that had a CD player...
