My second set of lower spherical bearings are almost toast. Lucky if they last a season, and they start making a pretty annoying chip when they wear out.

Any of y’all know the part number for the 4 bolts for the lower ball joints? I’m gonna replacing them soon and want to just get new bolts with the new ball joints.

Just order some 255 85 KM2's through the Ebay Primo sale, would have been awesome deal if I didn't have to pay tax on them. Still pretty good deal though, came out to $820 shipped to my door for 4, without tax would have been $760

I need to go take a picture of the old diesel welder my grandpa uses on the farm.

The tires alone are probably as old as @eon_blue

The fuel gauge in my 5-lug is dead. I suspected a bad fuel sender so I bought a new fuel sending unit from a junkyard. I tested the resistance on both senders against the FSM specs and they’re both fine.

Now it points me to the fuel gauge itself. I tested the points on the cluster and the resistance values are all wrong. There’s the unlikely culprit - a dead fuel gauge.

I bought a replacement gas gauge from a 4Runner. However, the resistance is completely different. I can’t use it. Now I either have to buy a new cluster, or find a new fuel gauge.

The fuel sending unit on the 5-lug is in remarkable shape. The one I bought from pick-n-pull is rusted, dirty, and has a clogged fuel sock. The 5-lug fuel sender with a date code of 1997 looks like it was put in yesterday. Incredible.

The value for the gas gauge between points A and C is supposed to be 260.3 Ohms according to the FSM. It’s not. I got a reading of 83.9 Ohms. Therefore the gauge is faulty.

It’s absolutely astounding how clean it is. The one from the junkyard only had 150k on it and it looked like it was on its last legs with the rust and everything.

It’s definitely the original pump. Toyota stamped the day, month, and year of manufacture on the brass bracket the pump attaches to. July 6th, 1997

Looks as clean as my 96 did when I pulled the pump to put the Aeromotive in.

The joys of living in California...

Under all the dust was a beautiful glossy black frame with no hint of rust. So glossy, in fact, you can see your own reflection. This is a frame with almost half a million miles.
