I was just able to get 21.5 on a 3+ hour trip from SE PA to Western MD-with a RTT and full bed. I think that’s pretty impressive. I stick to 93 octane and I see a noticeable improvement with warmer weather/summer blend fuel. As far as the idea that a taco should get better mileage relative to full-size trucks, I don’t necessarily think so. The ride height and air dam on an f150 surely helps it’s fuel efficiency, and it also has the approach angle of a Camry. They are clearly made for different things. Tacomas are “lifestyle” vehicles afterall. People that truly need a truck get a 1/2 or 3/4, and 95% of them probably never get it dirty, so who cares about angles.

could be the calibration of your and mine....i ride BMW R1200gs motorcycle and have a computer also.....it is within +/- .4mpg over 24k miles......i trust it also....."but what is well past”.....i would check that out.....3 gallons is approximately 60 miles.....i dont think that is correct or what it is set up for.....that gives you a false sense of security.

Nothing wrong with living in Irvine if you can afford 2.4 mill for 2,100 sq ft house. I was commuting there from home to work in those houses from moment. Living there? Well let’s just say at the present that’s above my budget... ya know with my fuel expenses and all

Oh good then I’ll just move into the Irvine home and keep an eye on things for ya. I mean what compliments a million plus dollar home than a brand new Tacoma in the driveway

That's what I thought would happen to be honest, but I've been running with it on for a couple months now and I've noticed a consistent jump in mileage. (not to mention the truck just feels better to drive.)

I don't think my truck went into 6th very often before, so if its getting locked out of 6th, that may be why it didn't negatively impact me. I've tested this by using S mode to shift from 6th into 5th and didn't feel the truck shift down. This is usually at something like 75 on the hwy, so there's that.

I know it changes the shift points a bit, and the speed limits/traffic around here usually put my truck smack dab in the middle of one when ETC is off. Turning it on gets my truck to stop gear hunting, which in turn lets me control the throttle better. At least, that's my theory on why my mileage increased.

I went about 35 miles or so. I think I put in about 20.5 gallons.
No thats not what its for, it is designed dumb americans as a way to not need to think about stuff.

My van has the 3.5v6, and it doesn't get much better mileage than my Tacoma. My wife and I have the same commute each day (her office is block away from mine).

I just don't think that any car, other than a hybrid, can get good mileage in stop-n-go highway conditions.

Mine shifted when I added some heavy step rails and went to 265/75R16 E-rated mud tires.....you can clearly see the sift in mpg on the graphic.

All in all, though....it's still better efficiency than my prior 4WD trucks that I've owned....and each of them was running stock sized AT rubber.

    Very.

I'm a creature of habit, lol.

I just realized I need to go hit the "update" button.

I'll post up what it looks like after doing so.

    That's sweet.

Shows the 6 month uptick that many folks report.
