I have been lurking in these forums since November of 2017 after acquiring my (new to me) 2017 SR access cab automatic 2.7 4-cylinder 4x4 Tacoma. I got it used with just under 5,000 miles on it from the dealership in town. It was used as a dealership fleet vehicle. The only upgrades from the stock SRs being 4x4 and all weather floormats/sill protectors.

I just happened to find a web deal for mine for $23,999 after joking with my husband that the only vehicle I would ever get rid of my 1998 Jeep Wrangler for would be a new Tacoma.

The only upgrades I have made so far were to add cruise control after reading threads on this site, and a hitch for towing. I was in a hurry for that one and... hate to say I used an awful harness that tied into my taillights... the hard way. I did this to tow a VW bug home from Phoenix to Flagstaff on very short notice. I hope to rectify this soon. The 2.7s will tow well enough. And the trip up from Phoenix is no joke.

Happy to be here. I love Toyotas. My husband currently has a 2017 limited hybrid Rav4. I have had 2 early pick-ups years ago. A lifted 1989 4x4 that I lost to a roll/wreck, and a 1990 2wd little work truck that ran me everywhere with over 500,000 on the original motor. I have also had two 2001 Toyota Echos, A 2005 Scion XB and a 2015 Scion TC. I usually stick to VWs for project cars though, having had 45 cars in total, with 11 of those being aircooled VWs. We even have 3 bugs at the house right now.

    My current planned mods are:
    • Rear ARB locker
    • Mild Old Man Emu lift
    • Wheel/tire upgrades (hoping for Black Rhinos Armory & 265 Wildpeaks)
    • ARB front bumper w/ winch
    • Katzkin seat covers
    • (Eventually) Monstaliner in "All Nighter"
    • A million other little things

Thank you. Most of those cars have been in 10 years time. I blame it on the aircooled VWs. They are a gateway drug to owning many cars. Everyone has a list of cars they would like to own... I am to get through that list if I can, lol, many of them are old cars anyhow.

    The current beetle infestation, btw.

Mine is the black (2003 Mexican), Hubby in green ('69 standard) and my daughter's (1995 Mexican) in white. She has 2.5 years to get it running. The bug will make up my gas costs pretty fast. I am surprised at how bad my MPGs in the 2.7 Tacoma are. Oh well, I got the Tacoma for truck stuff, and she does that part well.

I had some on my Wrangler I traded in. Great mix of grip/economy/road noise!
