Not sure if you would plan to have an RTT on your rig all the time, but since a garage hoist for removing it could be a concern...would be cool if you could design a hydraulic actuator to help assist in lifting the softopper cage. DMZ made a custom one for a tundra guy out in cali which is a great design as it just takes a button for his bed to open up for whatever he needs.

Im sure if I wait long enough on my bed rack build I will likely incorporate an actuator for mine. They can be had for up to a few hundred bucks, but they can handle a lot of weight pretty easily.

yeah ball screw actuators are awesome, i've used them on robots in the past!

I probs would keep an RTT on at all times, since I wouldn't really have a place to store them. The biggest advantage of an RTT mounted on a movable pivot point would be that you might not need to level the truck, just level the RTT.

Now there would be a fun project! a self leveling Bed rack!!!

I need to go find the build, but really the project itself wouldn't be that challenging. Now if you plan to have a softtopper mounted underneath the RTT like 90yota then you might want to consider how you would orientate that actuator arm to where it could safely navigate somewhere in the bed area, yet still protrude in a good spot without irritating the softtopper.

You know I currently have the "joel" build going on, but when I get my bed rack made I will be removing my softtopper permanently as I don't want my RTT to be higher than my cab elevation. So for me, if I go the actuator route it would be easier since I would have no restrictions in the actuator arm functioning.

Mostly touch ups. She never does a complete make up "install" in the truck

She just uses her phone now for check ins on her make up or asks me.

what's the build??? and yeah mine would be less useful since it'd have to be over the softopper

damn he'll drive all the way out here? that's cool! and I would love to but that is too much coin, especially for my build lol virtually everything on my truck was used so I could afford it with my other hobbies haha

    haha installs!!!!

it's funnier if she needs to touch up her makup in my truck at night since my LED lights are red for the interior

dang just browsed the thread a little, the tent looks sick! I'd have to mount it on the cab unless I get a bed rack blah blah blah

Still don't want to drop that kind of coin onto that yet.

We'll see, we are camping this weekend though haha

haha it wouldn't be financially responsible lol

One day maybe, and that's why I didn't go and buy that cap already, as much as it's perfect, and would be totally functional, I wouldn't use it everyday, and thus can't justify it

plus it's so nice to roll the window up and boom bikes over the tailgate, or take 2 min and the whole top is off to move something

My neighbor swung by while I was out doing a little work and was admiring how much I have in the rig. He was asking me about my bed cap/topper as he is in the market for one for his Nissan something truck. I answered his questions and showed mine off a bit and then he said I need to slow down and start a family. I just laughed..

Don't mind kids..I just wanna do hoodrat shit with my friends..

I jumped up on top of mine to tuck everything in and zip up the cover. But I def understand. SHORT PEOPLE PROBLEMS for sure man. I would like a hardshell as they are slimmer in design but having a shortbed doesn't really work unless I don't care about the overhang which I do cuz it looks like crap. Also got a deal on my rtt that I couldn't pass up.

Could do that too but that would require me to get a roof rack which I don't like. Also would be worried about the bed flex and rattling since you CANNOT bolt the rtt to the bed and roof rack. Something will break under the stress.

Im building a trailer soon and my rtt will be on that so that fixes my problems. Using my rack so it stays universal fit from truck to trailer. If I need to swap it back and forth
