Yeah, MPG has a large amount to do with that but my RTT cuts out the cost of hotels so I can kind of justify it. I took it to Vegas in February to stay out there for 3 days.

Once you get past a certain point headed east the RTT is stuck going to KOA's and the offset is gone.

 

Yes, that is valid. At 200 miles per tank it wouldn’t take long before the cost of fuel outweighed the cost of hotels.

I’ve got no truck updates as of now. We have been gone and traveling a lot recently and the past two weekends have been laid back and local. Working on some progress for future truck mods but as of right now, nothing new.

Things be happening...

 

Exhaust re-route is finally complete. Took the truck to and spoke with Taylor. They normally do exhaust and fab work on Jeeps but after speaking with him for awhile, I had a good feeling and wanted to see what he could do. I briefly explained what I wanted and he decided on the rest. Taylor went beyond what I had in mind and I couldn’t have been happier! I would highly suggest anyone looking for a re-route, or any other fab work to check them out. This job is obviously more than necessary for a re-route, but I asked for more clearance and he optimized every aspect of it.

He is willing to do a more simple version of the re-route as others have posted per request so PM me if you have any questions about pricing, etc.

It’s slow progress, but I’m happy with it so far. If only it wasn’t so damn humid out.

 

I know right. Not the time you wanna be doing fab work. I was welding yesterday and burning up too

 

The problem yesterday was the humidity. It wasn’t that hot out, but you can’t escape the humidity. Saturday was the worst day. That’s when I removed he factory mounts and it tried to rain. Nothing good about a plasma cutter, loads of grinding, and heat/humidity.

 

Your doing a good job at overcoming the heat though man! Keep it up man

Liking the looks of that shock mount. I wanted to go easy and got the BAMF kit, but it wasn't as cake as I thought it would be. My buddy did a bulk of the work while I was on vacation, but he said it took some work to make it fit. Not to mention the kit went on special a few days after I bought it... oh well haha.

 

The BAMF kit is solid. I had my hands on one a few weeks ago but decided to go this route. I didn’t want to deal with the clearance issues if I wanted to run anything other than a 2.0 or even a smooth body.

You were lucky that you had a friend willing to do most of the work. Most of the difficulty is the prep work. Taking the factory mounts off was a PITA! The rest of the work isn’t too bad. It’s just taking awhile since I am building from the ground up. It’s slow progress but should be worth it.

I’m running the same shocks as you, 2.5x12” w/DSCs. Mine aren’t tuned by Accutune though. I’d be curious to know what they do for valving.

I would have been interested to try the archive kit, but it was almost 3x the price, so I opted for this route. The Bamf kit will fit on the frame rails, but there is a crossmember or something that keeps it from really fitting in the ideal spot for max travel, unless you do some grinding. We modified the lower mounts a decent bit as well to make them fit. My buddy Andrew works at AccuTune and offered to do the install while I was away on vacation, so I said sure, works for me Work got busy and he didn't quite finish before I got back so I went and helped him out for a day, and I did the factory mount removal on one side and some of the bracket welding. A few key cuts with the sawzall, a cold chisel and a little grinding and I had them off.

Ryan at AccuTune has worked on a lot of shocks in his days, and developed some pretty slick tuning calculations for a solid baseline tune, and then with a tuning session in the desert can REALLY dial it in to your tastes, but i'm surprised at how good the baseline is. We put the fox factory tune 2.5s on the front, untouched by them, and it was better than stock TRD OR stuff, but then we went to Johnson Valley and we put their baseline tune in and it was crazy how much faster I could go through their little test course they use, and not turn into a bucking bronco of bottoming out. Each time they touch the shocks they get better. They can feel and see things that I didn't even know were an issue.

Anyway, hijack off. I gotta catch up on some of this build, because I see a lot of little things i need to do that I didn't know were common things (steering wheel chatter/clunk offroad...), interested to see your build!
