Anybody else have a high pitch whistling noise at high speeds? Had the truck for about two weeks now and only noticed this starting last night / this morning on the freeway. I might not have noticed before because I had the radio on. Its not too loud but its pretty high pitched.

Ive been looking at some posts on here and it does not sound like the LCA issue (although I have yet to check if my truck has the plugs, although I assume it would since that was an older issue) and it is also not the same noise as the people with the crosswind issue (my noise is present with 0 cross wind and it does not make the "kazoo" sound).

    Any ideas?

update: ended up being a faulty seal on the drivers side. Dealer confirmed and replaced it, all good now. Wasn't related to any existing TSB

never assume anything on here...is it inside or outside that you hear it? slowing down or speeding up? etc, etc, etc..dozens of questions will now ensue...

At what exact speeds? Anything above 45? Or a specific range?

Occurs any time I'm above about 45-50 mph, doesn't matter what I am doing as long as I'm going faster than that. As of now it sounds like its only on the drivers side (but maybe I just couldn't hear it on the passenger side? I am going to have someone come drive with me tonight and see what they hear on the passenger side). I cracked the windows and the noise didn't go away (but definitely got harder to hear because of the wind..)

Anything above 45 into 80, haven't gone faster than that but I would assume it continues.

Last night I thought it might be the removable bed cleats so I took them out but no change in the noise.

I just turned ~1700 miles and started hearing this as well, this week. Very brief but the first whistling i've heard since buying the truck. High pitched just like you described. Mine occurred while cruising.

Hmm maybe some weather stripping is coming loose? Only whistles at higher speeds?

Do you have an access cab or double cab? I have a double cab and had toyota replace my front drivers door seals due to a high pitched whistling around 100kmh. This didn't get rid of it but it is worth the try.

I then put in some weathertech in channel visors and the pressure applied to the window from the visor when put all the way up caused the noise to go away. I concluded it was the window seal and i lucked out because i wanted window visors anyhow.

Does it stay all the time at speeds, or just whine for a second or so and stop??

For what it's worth... this seemed to be drivetrain related vs something like seals or trim. Could be wrong... it's only happened 3 times in the last week. We'll see!

Only at higher speeds, and its a constant whistle

    Could you elaborate?

Toyota only fixes TSBs that are reported. Even if its an older issue if no one brought it to them to fix they wont.

might want to look into the TSB that is related to the A-arms on the front that whistle at highway speeds. they have openings that the TSB addresses by putting in rubber/plastic plugs that fill the holes that whistle.

there is a thread in the 3G that talks about this.

Does it sound more like a whistle or somebody blowing on the top of a glass bottle?

I would recommend recording the sound if you can, so you can at least present it to the dealer..

Like a whistle. The best thing I can compare it to is having loose tie downstraps

That's my plan but was looking to see if anyone else had encountered this

I think I got the lower whistle with the holes in the LCA and the subsequent TSB on it, but it never bothered me enough to get it taken care of. there was also a TSB on buzzing from the windows...
