I went with my parents when I was younger. It was the beginning of June & still crowded. I'm factoring that in but still want my wife to see the majesty of the area when we make it out there.

First off, make sure you understand what the numbers in tire sizes actually mean. That second number is just a ratio, and while it does indicate the width of your sidewall (more or less), being a ratio, it doesn't always necessarily mean more. I.E.: If your section width (first number) is larger, then a 70 may have more sidewall than a thinner tire with an 80.

Also, I've found that the softness of ride is more a result of softer sidewalls and lower pressure. Higher load ratings have stiffer sidewalls, which don't want to conform to obstacles rapidly as easily, so they're still pretty stiff over bumps and the like unless you air them way down to compensate. I'm really happy with my current D rated tires as a middle ground of ride comfort and capability.

Anyone have a set of .75" wheel spacers I can borrow for an afternoon to see if it's enough to clear my uppers? I'll provide beer and BS

Are you not running the 1.25 any more?

I'm considering swapping the 1.25s for .75s to help clear up the last little bit of rubbing with the 35s. But I can't take them off completely because without them my tires don't clear my uppers

That's a great idea, except that it's not going to solve the UCA clearance problem, or the cab mount clearance problem.

Why would a thinner spacer clear the UCA better? Still hitting the cab mount even after CMC?

    I vote solid axle swap.

With thinner spacers, you need to think of steering articulation as a circle with a radius. The spacers make the circle radius bigger, thus when turning the tires have more throw and require more trim. That's the big downside to spacers and changing your offset.

Thinner spacers don't give me more UCA clearance, but I need thinner spacers to clear the cab mount. It doesn't rub while my alignment is good, but after like a day on the trail hitting shit it pushes stuff around enough that it starts rubbing again.

I need *any* spacers because with no spacers, my tires rub on my UCAs. I need thinner than 1.25" spacers because those push the tires out increasing the radius that tacofort is alluding to, which makes them smack my cab mount.

Do you know what is getting pushed around? When you get it realigned, what do they have to tweak? Just wondering, because I remember something about beefing up LCA adjusters or something. Wonder if that may be wanted for the bigger, heavier tires?

Edit: Mostly just hoping you figure this out, so the rest of us third gens can follow your lead.

I'm losing caster from somewhere. My assumption is that I'm either hitting my lca's or spindles on trail crap, or it's just getting forced around in ruts. I don't think my alignment cam tabs are flat, which is the problem everyone has, and seems to usually be caused by alignment shops being careless. In that case, it's almost impossible for the truck to hold an alignment from what I understand, so people fix them then gusset them.

I have 1” spacers you can try this weekend while I remove and replace my truck’s carpet this weekend. My daughter puked on it in December and I can’t clean the odor out of it. FedEx is delivering the replacement carpet Saturday so while the interior is out, you’re welcome to try my spacers.

I traded her for a dog in February. People don’t complain about a dog being in the bed of a truck while hauling ass down the highway
